Sorry for newbie questions guys.

I attempted to load stage 2 tune, it grabbed the stock tune, then put the stage 2 tune up to 100%, then came back and said tune failed, reflash to stock. The car started though, did it take it and this is a common error message (error 1034) or am i just a dummie lol.

I flashed it back to stock, and at 100% it says the same thing, error 1034 failed to install tune.

Thanks,
Greg

Get in touch with SCT's tech support. They will get you looked after. That is not a normal message.

Did you go to the "key on" position? You have to press the start button until the gauges sweep for it to be key on. Otherwise you're in acc mode and u will get that error

pretty sure yes i held button for 2 seconds, if it wasn't actually on would it go through the whole process? Sorry don't mean to sound argumentative just not done this before on a car anyhow.

It took maybe 10 minutes or so when saving stock tune up to 100%, lights on dash cycled, all types of warnings came on etc, then it proceeded to install the stage 2 tune, all the way to 100% as well, at the very end after being at 100% for a minute ish it gave that error, but the car started up.

Yes...it still would do all that...I speak from experience. Not saying that's the problem, just trying to alleviate any of the easy solutions. It actually takes a little longer than 2 sec. Just hold the start until the gauges sweep

I think a lot of us had trouble the first try. I had to hold the key for at least 3 seconds. The way to tell if the car is in the on position: the gauge hands will sweep just like at start-up. Good luck, hope it works for you.

Sorry Darreli, I missed your earlier post with the same instructions.

Still seem to have same issue, hold button for a while, gauges sweep, when it hits 100 percent the gauges come back on after being off for 5 minutes while flashing, then get error 1034

Greg,

They can indeed be touchy. I'm pretty sure it's not in "key on" mode as Darrell said. If you try SCT and they can't assist you, I will be back from AZ sometime Monday and can assist you/show you how to do it if you if you want to stop by.

Thanks Rick, ready to pull my hair out LOL. Funny this is that i have flashed my motorcycle ecu's hundreds of times etc, i must be missing something basic.

Is there anything special in when you plug the SCT into the OBDII port, or when having to turn key off, then on, right before hitting select or anything finicky like that? I know on some of the bike ecu's you have to cycle power off, then on, then immediately hit flash so that the ecu is still in a startup type state and able to be connected to.

The thing that is frustrating is that if the SCT really isn't conencting, why does it look like it does and go from 0-100% LOL, argh, time for a beer haha.

Anyhow thanks again for your help especially while out of town etc. I drive past your shop every day i might need to stop in if i cant figure it out

With the push-button ignition, why is it that many are having trouble with turning the ignition on but with no-start?
Is it that difficult to determine that the ignition is on and not just in accessory mode?

Just asking. I haven't got my SHO so I've not had a chance to 'play' with it yet but hey, if the seatbelt warning ding dings are doing their thing, and the warning lights are all lit in the instrument cluster and, as the manual says, the speed and tach needles do their 'sweep' -- would that not confirm to anyone that it's on but not started?

I know i myself would be extremely appreciative, as someone that no experience also in flashing ECM. If someone could put together a step by step guide. All though Rick took the time to show me, Im not confident that i could perform. I'm good at reading and following instructions, but someone can show me something a hundred times. But Until I do it myself It never sinks in fully.

I say we all should shoot videos of us doing our daily chores in our SHO's, starting them, driving them, washing them, modding them..... etc etc.

You know, just to SHOw Showgun how enjoyable it is since he can only participate from the sidelines.

Spent an hour on the phone today with SCT, they updated firmware, and gave me a custom tune stock file to try. But now they nuked out the actual stock file in the device, and if I try to flash a custom tune it says I must go to stock, but there is no stock..... DOH! Its stuck in a never ending loop.
