problem: Car idles low and rough, secondaries won't open, car dies if throttle isn't applied lightly.

back story:
after a recent tranny rebuild and subsequent freshening up (vacum lines, new plugs, new DIS module) my car is still running like shitake. Car was running but it was rought. Replaced plugs and car ran like a champ (compared to it's previous state) went out for test run/ice cream. on the way back from getting ice cream the car died. idle had dropped and then took a corner under light throttle, getting into it about 50% throttle after apexing, She then promptly died. Couldn't get it restarted. pulled into shopping center with what momentum i had. It then preceded to POUR down rain for about 1/2 an hour (nearly 4 inches) while i waited for a tow truck. (mind you my hood was not on the car at the time). took car back home a la tow truck. Couldn't get it started. figured it was DIS module. replaced it and it started and ran like crap. had a wild hare up the @ss and decided to check plug wells. Water had filled the plug wells nearly to the top. siphoned the water out of the plug wels as best i could. started. car ran for a while. Heard fairly loud rpm dependent noise through intake. sounded like valve chatter. turned it off. Decided to take off intake manifold to check for additional water on top of engine. cleaned top of engine. Installed Big Bore Butterflies. Put intake back on. car now runs like stated above.

ANY idea what i have done to my poor baby? have pleanty of fuel. tested 43psi at rail.

removed LPM today and car wil not even start.

i'm about at wits end with her. i hope somone has an idea, if not and i can't get her running properly within 2 days she's going to the shop and getting sold (need the money for school, parents idea.)

Intake seeded correctly? Sounds like some kind of vacuum leak somewhere. Did your CE light come on at all during any of this? CPS replaced already?

Just stabbing in the dark Doc, but if you do trade her in, I have dibs on your BBBs.......

Start by double-checking all the grounds. I recently helped a member having a simlilar problem to find that the two bolts holding the crossover tube on the intake weren't installed, thus the DIS wasn't grounded.

Then get in there with a flashlight, and make sure all six runners are flush with the head.

Doc,
You want to clean it with contact cleaner you can get at Radio Shack..it is also called "Electronic Cleaner". Spray a little bit onto the brush that is included and wipe it gently. I have felt the caustic nature of carb cleaner isn't the best when it gets on hands, and I wouldn't risk it on the tender filament of the MAF, when there is a cleaner out there DESIGNED to do the job.

Coil pack failure rates are relatively low for our cars...but you never know...one way to find out is to swap one out and see...is there anyone with a spare around you that you can try as a tester?

SHOFEAR94 is the only person in the area i know of other than jason hartbeger, that has a SHO and chris got rid of his i dunno if he still has his spare coil. rember the car does have 167k and has been without hood for over 3 months, origonal coil, origonal wires and plugs had been changed once (before i did them).

make sure there isn't any dust or other crap under the spark plug wire mounting holes on the pack. Clean it with some carb cleaner and reinstall the wires onto the pack. see if that helps.
