Anyone replace the rod bearings without removing the y-pipe? What new seals are required? I plan on reusing all the existing seals/gaskets with some RTV to make sure. Anyone else have any suggestions or tips for when I dig into this?

Thanks all,

I would get a new pan gasket, you don't want to do that job twice. I think it's about $15. There is also a gasket on the oil pickup tube, not sure if that's included in the kit. Watch the torque on the oil tube pickup nuts, people have stripped those. My Ford shop manual even had the wrong torque values :smash: , so make sure you get the correct numbers. There was a recent post on that, do a search. In fact, do a search on rod bearing to get up to speed.

If you need help on the actual rod bearing procedure, you should take a look at this thread. Rod Bearings for Dummies :bonk:

Personally I'd replace the gaskets. The majority of the pan gasket is RTV, but the front and rears are actual material.
