Rod Bearings 3.0 vs 3.2

I am aware that the rod bearings are the same for the 3.0 and the 3.2. But I have noticed, it seems that the majority of spun rod bearings have been in the 3.0s. Could this be do to the different rods in the 3.2 or possibly just that 3.0s have a tendance to have been driven more agressively?

Every part has an expected life span, depending on the care the car has received will make a huge difference in how long a part is expected to last and actually does last.

My rod bearings were changed out at over 160k on the clock and according to Mr. Hurder they looked like they came out of an engine with @100k. I'm a firm believer that every car is different in that respect simply because no two have been driven the same (for the most part) or cared for the same way for their entire lives.

The ATX's torque converter "cushions" the motor to a certain extent. I'm sure lugging an MTX isn't too good on the bearings either.

One of the causes of accelerated bearing wear is a high load applied at a low oil pressure, i.e. heavy throttle at low rpm or lugging the engine. The 3.2L in the automatic transaxle SHO is protected from this condition by an involuntary dowshift of the transaxle. The 3.0L engine requires a knowledgeable operator to prevent this harmful situation. Not all operators are that aware.

yup all the more reason I plan to change mine this weekend. I keep thinking back to when I was on the test drive with the PO of my car. He said ohh you can put it in 5th at 30mph, it's got plenty of power. Now comming up on 90k I'm really starting to think that I should just do it and stop putting it off. Granted I have no knocking and what not, but a freind of mine here spun a bearing and subsequently siezed his engine from no oil just 2 weeks ago. But there is a bright side to every tradegy, a 3.2 is in the future for his MTX.
