its pecking in the rear bank ,and the oil light comes on around 1K rpm. Rod bearings right?

You can try and put new bearings in but more than likely the crank is scored too much.
Everybody on this forum should have their rod bearings replaced. Its worth the $300 or so to have them fixed.
A spun rod bearing is the equivalant to a bad cam in the V8s.

I have a 95 with 150K miles. I am planning on replacing the clutch. I have heard that you "might as well" replace the rod bearings while you do the clutch. Anything else while I have the car opened up down there? Main bearings, crank bearings?
