Well I know napa is the place to go, but I need the part #'s and quanities of each that I need.
List is as follows:
3.2 rod bearings:
How many?
Part #?

3.2 main bearings:
How many?
Part #?

Going to replace them in the 3.2 I have as long as I've got it out of the car. Anyother suggestions to do to the engine while everthing is accesible? The (3.0) heads are getting reworked & a full 60K is planned too. Thanks all.

If they are in fact the same as the 3.0 bearings the rod bearing # is clevite cb1435p 6-sets.

I just bought and installed rod and main bearings last week.
Main bearing must be the 1773's and the rods 1435's. whichever brand you get the number will still be the same with different prefixes and suffixes. I would recommend buying the main bearing Kit/set from autozone (online) for $42.49 and then going with napa (online) for the rod's for $7.49 a piece, and you will need six since the price is for a set (upper and lower).

MGidish thanks for the response! I am very pleased with those prices & only question left is do I only need 1 set of main bearings? I know this may be dumb, but you have to realize a little over a year ago about all I did on my own car was change the oil... I still can't believe I'm doing a motor swap, but **** you only live once & I've got a helms, mitchell on demand, 3 motors laying around, and best of all the forum to cover me! Thanks all & any want to be mechanic should be forced to own & maintain an SHO... would definitely help them decide if they were making the right career choice. I know 100% that my college eductation will equate to a nice office job and I'm not going that route :p

The main bearings that you look up on the autozone website contains the whole set ($42.49). Just make sure that what you are looking at corresponds with the part number given above. I went with the standard size bearings. Hope this helps.
Here is tha actual part number. Michigan-77 brand part no. MS1773P.

don't forget there are other things you need too. Oil pan gasket set (well at leas the seals) and IIRC oil pick up tube gasket.

That's right. It's obsolete so you need an egr gasket and may need to modify the hole to fit the tube properly. Trim it with the original gasket out as a guide.

A couple of suggestions if you are in the learning mood.

Get some "plastigauge" from any auto parts store. Follow the instructions, and measure the bearing clearances for your rods and mains.

If the clearances are to large you may need a set of oversized bearings. This would indicate that there is some wear at the crank journals.

If the wear is more than a few thousanths you may want to have the crank "miked" by a reputable machine shop. Have the crank and rods trued if necessary.

Putting new bearings in "out-of round" crank journals will not last very long. At 5000 to 7000 rpm it could result in a catastrophic failure!

Replace all rod and crank bearing bolts. Again, you do not want to trash an engine for a few dollars worth of bolts! Enjoy, rangerj

Thin lead solder can also be used instead of plactic gauge, you just have to measure it instead of using the chart.
