I basically agree with anything from Autozone(duralast) except for basics is a craps shoot. I bought things from them in the past that just didn't match what was on the car, such as brakepads, halfshafts, batteries(how can they screw up a battery?). I wont go to autozone any more unless they are a last resort.

I have used 2 of Valeos clutch kits for my SHO's and had great results for a stock replacement clutch.

89-95 SHO

Valeo #52482001
Sachs #K0122-01
Luk #07-078

If you need somthing more then stock, dxd, spec .

Does this Sachs kit come with a quill sleeve?

My old LuK clutch had a LuK disc with more springs in it than the OEM Valeo disc.

Beware when buying any "performance" pressure plate. You are buying a plate that potentially has modified lever points [like a Clutch Masters Stg 1] and will cause problems with clutch slippage and rough shifting due to premature pressure plate damage. The modified lever point will put more stress on the stock diaphragm and will bend it, no longer allowing sufficient clamp force to keep the clutch disc from slipping and keeps the pressure plate from completely disengaging [rough/grinding shifting]. You do not need these modified pressure plates unless you have no clue how to shift properly. A Clutch Masters Stg 1 kit and anything like it, is nothing other than a stock kit with a modified plate retaining organic disc material like all other stock clutch kits. If you are hurting for money, you will hurt for more buying one of these kits thinking it will save you money and it fails. Search the forums or go look in my thread about the $500 deal of a LuK kit installed, I have a couple of links in there.

I would think so , every one I have seen has had one included. Not all aftermarket ones do. Stock kits should.

The quill sleeve is probably already on your car and unless damaged can be reused. They are a pain to replace.

The only reason I ask is due to throwout bearing differences in the kit. I know a ceramic TOB might be optimal, but opinions seems to differ on it.

AutoZone has the LuK clutch kit with a LifeTime warranty for $331, just a FYI.

Differing opinions? Never seen any here. The ceramic TOB simply addresses the weak spot in SHO clutch longevity and is well regarded. A stock TOB will nearly always fail long before the disk or other clutch components wear out. I can't tell you how much longer the ceramic one will last, but it is longer.

So will I spend more if i get the clutch from one place and the TOB from somewhere else? I'm on a budget and trying see, from this thread, where to get both parts for someone on a budget. I'm torn btw many suggestions and don't know where to start.

It could be cheaper getting seperate, All depends on what the prices are and how they add up, shipping likely being the deciding factor. Gonna have to get exact prices and shipping quotes and do the math. It's usually diff depending on where the stuff is coming from and going to. Could be cheaper from one place for some of us and cheaper seperate for some.

AutoZone sells the pressure plate [$140] individually, as well as the clutch disc [$60]. You can then purchase the ceramic TOB [$105 @ SHONutPerformance.com] if you'd like, and if that's what you're looking at.

Goinh back and looking at your post, the TOB is the only thing thats causing my issues now.But while I'm in there I might as well change the clutch, but do I really need to change the pp? Can I just change the clutch and TOB and be fine?

No! The TOB usually wears through the PP fingers well before the clutch disc itself wears out. Save yourself a headache later and change it while you're in there.

Well, I would need the whole clutch kit. That pp fm AZ, is that the kit?

No, the three parts I listed are what consists of a clutch "kit". You have three parts, the pressure plate, clutch disc, and throw out bearing.

As frosho said, it's best to replace the TOB and pressure plate at the same time. If your TOB has went out, it's most likely worn away a good amount on the pressure plate fingers. It doesn't take long to wear them out with an OEM style TOB. You can replace the TOB and pressure plate then reuse your clutch disc, which probably has a nice chunk of meat on it.
