I tried applying pressure, but it didn't work.

So I cut the head off and pushed the three portion of the bolt in.

Well, I still can't get the computer to move out of the car.
Vise grips are only ripping the sheetmetal.

Firewall side. I even put the nuts back on the bracket to give me more support when pulling from inside.

Looks like the harness is still connected. The bolt when unscrewed backs the harness connector out of the plug, like the ccrm. You'll have to get a chisel to pry and some leverage to slowly work the plug off.

It's out! Lots of tools and leverage and cracked electrical harness later...

So, I checked and the nut inside the computer was fine - the bolt just wasn't reaching it.

But, the car wasn't running prior to be attempting to remove the computer anyway, so that doesn't matter.
Going to let the glue dry on the connector and heading out now to get a bolt. I might have to hunt for one. In my old hometown there is an auto parts store with the entire Dorman fastener inventory. The drawers are part of the very long counter. I wish I had that here. It is less than two hours to that store from here though, so....

Fyi, my bolt was cross treaded and harness plug not seated properly when I changed mine out.

Found another issue - the AC clutch backing plate is completely loose....
Painted the retaining plate while I was at it.

Another project you might put on the list to do is to get a wrecking yard Taurus ECU connector that is undamaged and has the captured bolt and plastic cover. You can swap all the wires and pins over to the new connector.

I used a 6x1x75mm bolt. Found it at Lowe's, and is only 5mm longer than the factory bolt.
I press-fit the old retainer back on.
I used a washer to simulate the molded head, then cut the black cover so it would fit flush by removing the guide that goes over the plastic shaft. Still need to come up with a better retaining system for the cover.
Fortunately, the case has plenty of room to take a longer bolt. I posted a pic of inside the old computer earlier.

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago but fan was running as well. replaced Ccrm and did not help. Replaced PCM... Fixed!

I have the same thing happening right now, fan turns on and fuel pump not shutting off. U said the PCM is what u replaced? Where did u get 1? Thanks

Yes. Best practice is to have access to a known working CCRM and PCM for sure if you can afford it.
