FYI,
The Mobil 1 and K&N oil filters are built in the same factory, Champion Industries. They have the same media on the inside. The Mobil 1 as a slightly better burst strength on it's outside shell. Both are rated very good. I used K&N's until Auto Zone opened up here last year, now I use either one.
Actually I read on the shoclub writeup that Champion labs uses different media for both. It just looks the same. The mobil 1 media is biased towards slightly finer filtering. The K&N is biased towards maximum absolute flow. They cost pretty much the same. I think the mobil 1 is probably best for the street but that 1" nut on the end of the K&N sure is sweet.

FWIW Champion make the OEM version of MotorCraft filters. Whereas Wix makes the aftermarket version. Something to consider as the ones made by Champion are a much better quailty.

where'd you get that information?? i'd love to read that write up... i was always told that purolator makes motorcraft filters.... and it doesn't make sense that they would have two different vendors.... one for the one at the dealership and one at a parts store.... interesting...
