Good find! Seems like there are good deals up in WI. Isn't WI where Michelle found a SHO for 1500 w/SVT's and a quaife and another set of rare wheels? (sorry for the hijack)

But good find, tho! :thumb:

So I just picked up a quaifed trans for....... $500 :woo-hoo: and was just wondering since the stock diff was one of the main reason for running most of the thinner fluids we use, if any trans fluids work best with a quaifed trans or just the same old Amsoil ATF, GM Synchromesh ect ect... :thankyou:

All the SHOs there have rusted away, so the parts are cheap.

People seem to be having good luck with the Valvoline and Castrol ATFs. Like Marcel said, the Quaife makes a lot of heat when its working hard, and the wrong fluid is going to give you a lot of resistance to shifting.

That's why I run a Trans-Cooler with a Pump on the track car. This transmission stays plenty cool when it's getting a work-out. :salute:

Hey, Sam. Care to share how that's set up? Where did you run the lines and mount the pump?

Redline D4 in mine, bought new in the first run by SHOshop and run for the last 70 K miles including several hundred autox passes and several HPDEs.

The D4 will produce notchy shifting at temperatures under about freezing, but makes up for it in temperature resistance for hot open track or autox days. No Quaife cooler yet so this is the compromise that is made.

Nice find . . . .

It could be frogs but I don't think so, if it was I would just be dumpin on someones thread and talking sheit about not searching while wasting other peoples time to read my witty BS cuz I'm still picking brain hair out of my teeth.

So straight from Quaife's web sight,

"QUAIFE DOES NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH OUR PRODUCTS"

And then from Autotech's web sight

"When running a QUAIFE ATB Differential in a standard transaxle gearbox, we recommend that you use whatever your vehicle's manufacturer recommends. The QUAIFE ATB Differential does not require any special lubricants"

But Since I'm such a nice guy.... I half took my bumper off to get some pics, It was easier then crawling under the car.

Here's the Line to the Cooler:

IMG 7032

Going in to the Cooler:

IMG 7028

And out to the Pump:

IMG 7030

I don't exactly remember where exactly the Return line from the pump, to the trans goes to. It's cold and wet outside so I don't want to go under the car to get pics, Maybe Bob can Chime in on that.

It's activated by the fog-lamp switch.

We Use only AMSOIL ATF, if that cant be found then we run Mobil 1.

Sam, clean the rabbit shit off of the subframe!

I think John H used the redline crap and well his quailfe went to ****.. For other reasons im sure, but I need an excuse to **** on redline and for some reason Ive always hated it..

Maybe because Vadim said it was good and everything from his mouth was a lie!

If the Quaife works hard enough that the car moves around (i.e., you can tell it's working hard) then taking care of the fluid is important. In the past some people would just change the fluid between track events, which works fine and ATF isn't all that expensive, anyway, or you can run a cooler. I used to run a cooler but a change in the suspension setup has resulted in the Quaife not working very hard any more, and since my motor is stock, anyway, I can get away with no cooler and no frequent changes now.

You do what you need to do. Whatever fluid one wishes to put in there it should be something with high-temperature tolerance so that it lasts as long as possible. If it boils (which has happened to people before), you definitely need a cooler. If the shift quality goes away after an event, either a fluid change or a cooler is probably a good idea.

My cooler was tapped from the front of the bottom of the tranny and returned into the fill plug.
