Well....the drilling part was easy. My best guess is that I used too much pressure and went in too far, when tapping. WHICH made it so the drain plug I bought would just slipe and out, past the threads. No bueno.
So after panicking and having some of the members here talk me off the ledge, I ended up moving up to the next size. WHILE employing some new tactics of;
- less pressure
- - you need a little pressure when starting (enough to hold the tap in the hole so it doesn't come and mess up any threads it's made)
- Once you have a couple threads going, the tap will basically pull itself in, as you turn it in.
- only tapping as far as I need to (which is about 8 to 10 threads
- And of course the basics of 1/2 to 1 turn in, and 1/4 turn out (to clear the threads)
Seriously, even with my visions of epic failure, it ended up not being that bad. AND I've now got a drain plug in my PTU.
Next up! RDU! ...get ready to talk me off the ledge again everyone!
