Ok heres the deal. My front right fender had a little ding in it. (from previous owner) Its right at where the turn signal light is, well it is rusted, and I wanna make it look better so Im gonna paint it. Well my question is how far do I need to sand the fender, im only doing half. Do i need to go all the way down to the metal, or can I just sand it down so far then just spray paint it. If I do this and there is still a little bit of paint left do I need to add primer? I never realized how long sanding takes. And does it matter what color primer it is, mine is red.
