I saw an earlier post about the power antenna problems but I need some more help. I have a 1992 MTX with 106,000 miles and the power antenna doesn't go down but the motor still works, I tried to push the antenna down with my hands to get to the bolt but it wont go down. My only solution now is to cut off the antenna above the fender so i can reach the bolt with the socket wrench. The only reason that I want to get to the antenna assembly is because the radio has no signal. I cannot get "ANY" stations at all. Could this not be because of the power antenna? Could it be something else and what could it be. I really want to get radio stations so could someone please help. Thanks

I also want to add that i have the Premium sound system with the two door speakers and the two rear deck speakers with the tape/radio deck and no CD player. It is not the JBL sound because I have no subwoofer.

This is the same on my 92 MTX also, except I can still get radio signals. When we bought the car in June, the antenna wouldnt go down but you could hear the engine trying to pull it down. All my dad did was just disconnected the motor and we just leave the intenna up. I think the antenna is bent in a place, thats why its not going down. Good luck.

I just replaced mine in my 95 with JBL w/CD. You can follow the hyperlink in the previous post to the showtimes website and they will instruct you on how to replace it. My old antenna ****** was broken so i had to take the splash guard outta the wheel well and take the assebly partiall apart and get the old part out. Very straight forward the showtimes site will guide you right through it. The new antenna mast is about 50 bucks at Ford, and in regards to cutting the old mast to get the bolt out, just get a 'deep' 13mm socket and slide it ontop of the antenna, and it will seat on the bolt with enough sticking outta the top for u to loosen it by hand. You must unscrew the little chrome cap first. Sorry for such a long post, this is a lot easier than i am making it seem, hope this helps.
