Have an interesting problem. Passenger power seat stuck in full back position (made to go as far back as possible). The seat will not move forward. The seat WILL go up/down. Not sure if it is the joystick contacts that are dirty or if this is a shorted wire problem. I just replaced the battery, so hopefully it won't drain to zero if it is a short. Any ideas where I should start looking to troubleshoot?

Problem resolved itself...of sorts. The seat MIRACULOUSLY was able to move back and forth with SOMEONE SITTING IN IT (I tried moving it back and forth while standing outside the SHO, and thought it was dead). This intermittent behavior sounds suspiciously like a bad connector which I'll need to crawl under and try to detach, spray with DeOXIT D5 and reconnect.

I know this sounds dumb, but I have to ask...is there something special about these SHO seats where they need to have a buttocks in it to be able to move???

No. Nothing special. The motors get older and get finiky. You may find that they just work. I've never had a bad switch, but have had similar issues with many of the seats not working. Then just repeatedly pushing the button the seat eventually moves and acts as if nothing was ever wrong.

Same issue can occur with the window motors. Have to hold the button while pounding the door in the right spot to get'em moving. Replacing them if it keeps happening usualy resolves the issues. Motors are just getting old...

I remember back in the days when I had SLO as daily drivers, I changed 2 times the seats set in them adding an electric seat for the driver by the same time (96-97 LX -> GL/SE). One of them always stills stuck in the furthest position and I have to "help" it by pulling myself with the driver wheel. It did that only when it goes at the max distance. Other this small bug, the motor worked correctly.
