I've had my car for a couple of months now and I have not noticed any problems with the clutch. I can launch it hard and get healthy wheelspin shifting to second, and sometimes a little chirp out of third if I'm trying hard enough.

Today some dork in a Toyota Camry tried to race me. I attempted to launch at a slightly higher RPM then I have in the past (still learning the car and finding what the "sweet spot" is for taking off) and I noticed right away that my clutch slipped, as I had no wheelspin and a weak launch. Then when I shifted to second gear I got no bark and the revs took a minute to "catch". Same thing when I shifted to third.

After that, a few minutes later at a red light, I tried to take off as if I was racing again. Car behaved as it always has and pulled nice and strong, with plenty of wheelspin off the line and from shifting. I repeated that a couple of times a few more minutes later.

I'm thinking maybe I was riding the clutch a little during the race - the adrenaline was flowing (first race in the SHO and first race in general in quite a while) and I may have been nervously riding the pedal a little in anticipation of shifting. It's the only thing I can think of, but can a clutch on it's "way out" behave like how I described? (coming and going)

BTW, I still beat the Camry even with all the slipping. :nut:

Don't know about the coming and going issue. Maybe it was just heat!!??

Mine went 2 months ago. The way I could tell was if I was going slow in 3rd gear up a slight hill, and floored it, the engine would rev as the clutch slipped.

Don't do this too much - I think you can score the flywheel eventually.

Nice you still beat that camry!!!!

Best way to know is to put a good amount of load on it , to see if it slips.

like on 4th @ 30-40 and flooring it , If the RPM goes up abnormally without speeding up , it slips.

Another way of a destroyed clutch is gear grinding when shifting , even with the clutch pedal fully pressed.

anotherway to tell is to try and launch from 3rd or 4th and let it out really slowly... if it doesnt grab to well... thats one way to tell...
