Persistant ABS-

Hey guys-
i was looking for some help..

When im driving, and if i try to slow down, while going over bumps or *** holes, my ABS kicks in- then i start to lose control. Personally- i hope i do crash- so i can sew Ford or something. To get the car to stop applying ABS, i have to release the brakes, which doesnt help when you need to STOP. I have had to stop many times USING my ABS because of the stupid thing- I am ready to go out with a sledge.

Why does my ABS kick in?

sounds like one of your brake calipers is either sticking or not applying enough pressure. When you are braking there might be uneven amount of pressure applied to the discs making the abs think the wheels are spinning at way different rates tricking it to kick in

either that or there is a problem with one of your abs sensors/rings.

Disconect your ABS computer...(ABS light will come on on your dash).....then you'll have real brakes! I did this to one of my past SHO's and I loved the feel of the brakes without the ABS. The ABS systems on these old cars wasn't very good anyway, and can be VERY expensive to fix when you start replacing wheel speed sensors......

It sounds to me like your struts are blown. Hit a bump, the wheel bounces like no tomorrow. If you're in the brakes while that wheel is in the air, it will stop spinning, and the ABS will interpret this as a wheel skid event, and release pressure at that wheel.

I would look at replacing struts first.

BTW, you're pretty close to the NYC metro area being in Wappingers. Keep your ears open for upcoming events.
