Just curious if anyone has upgraded their coil ignition system? I’m in the market due to some possible problems of misfire on my factory ones. I started with replacing plugs, this is my next step to see if it cure the misfire. I currently have the LMS 93,91 octane tune, corsa exhaust, corsa catless down pipes, 3 bar map and k&n air intake.

Any help on choosing upgrades or ideas of misfire problem would be greatly appreciated.

I saw on one of the FB pages someone did MSD. Is it just one cylinder misfiring or multiple/all? Any codes?

There is a thread on here somewhere I started, I asked the exact same question when I did my plugs, the general consensus was aftermarket provided no improvement in performance. My understanding is with these motors its all in the computer and tune so as long as the stock coils are doing there job its an un-needed expense and in some cases sub standard product.

If you are seeing codes, is it a general misfire, or does it point to a specific cylinder? The fault usually lies with the spark plug OR the fuel injector, rarely the coil. Sometimes a valve cover gasket leak can happen, #3 cylinder in particular on the 2013+ SHO, but you should see evidence of that on the plug.

What plugs did you put in, what gap and how many miles do you have on your SHO? Have the old plugs laying around/pics of the plugs?
