We went to the U Pull It bone yard (32nd av & Broadway) this AM to look for a wire harness for our '92 MTX that runs under the passenger door sill from the radio to the amp.

Found a '94 white SHO MTX that has been there 3 days.
Engine is complete. The dipstick is broken at the tube, but shows clean oil. It appears to be an AZ car. The dash has been gutted, we took the the harness, the front bumper (the plastic sq tube behind the fascia), odd little pieces, the trunk deck (with spoiler), and the headlights.
We are returning at the 7 am opening tomorrow for the the front fascia, the alternator, and the lf rear hard brake line to the brake bias block.

It still has the four bidirectional (Italian) slicers with (decent) tires, because it had lug locks. We will grab the wheels, and would like the engine, (need a fresh one for the '92), ...Anyone need anything, or want to meet there, or barter?

Damn, I wish I were in AZ right now... I'd like the motor. It looks like I need one for the new car.

SHOPO, would you ask him what he wants for the engine and tranny? Jason might use the engine and I could use the MTX tranny and subframe if it isn't bent.

If I can figure out how to get it out...
This is the strangest place I've ever seen. A square mile of hulks set on stands made of three rims welded together, atop a tire, with men roaming about with 5 gallon buckets of tools, saying, "you want that, our can I have it?"

I don't know why it was junked. No crash damage, the engine is clean with clean oil, no major leaks...

I'll see what I can do. It's now set with-in a group of hulks, it might have to be fork lifted to an area where to engine can be pulled.

I don't think they know what they have.

What color is the interior? Does it have all-leather seats or are they the cloth-leather combo? Finally are the front seats in good condition?

Thanks,
Mike

Seats are cloth/leather. Interior is grey. Fronts seats are 75 to 80 out of 100 at best.

I got the shifter rods with all brackets, plates and bolts. It took 10 minutes, and cost less than two six packs. So, SHOAZ, its yours.

The entire front engine/trans/steering et al is good. In fact, it looks like the bright thing to do is drop the entire cradle of sub frame/axles/and pwr train.
I repeat, there is no indication this car was EVER hit.
When we got to it, the gas tank, gauge cluster, and Y pipe were missing, and someone had botched getting the right side head light out, but left it.

I have to leave for Vegas this afternoon, and can't do more until next weekend. I'll try to get someone to remove the cradle this week, or else leave to someone else.

Eric, did you recieve my messages?

Yes! I was going to call you today. I didn't get your first message until I was in Colorado Springs, and I didn't get your second message until I was in Albuquerque, so it was kinda pointless to return either one.

Sorry we missed each other. I'll give you a buzz today.

What do you think they'll sell the engine, tranny and subframe for. That would definitely be the smarter way to do it.

There wasn't anyone on staff today that could give me an answer. Complete engine is $175. What could the balance be...thrice that for everything?

I'm interested in the motor, but how much am I looking at to get it shipped here?

Jason,

They want 175 for the engine and since the gauge cluster is gone there is no way to tell how many miles. The sales guy said they don't keep track of the mileages.

They want 97.00 for the tranny so I might go and get that at least. If I get the engine also for 175.00, do you want it? If you don't, I'll buy it for my self. I'll need to get some help though, it looks heavy.

SHOPO, If Eric doesn't want that shifter, I'll buy it from you.

I had offered the shift rod as a freebie, and it stands that way to either of you. I thought I had mentioned several times that I could use the engine, by my editor son says I was weak on that point.

I'm back in town this week end and would be willing to help if you want to try to get the trans out. Do you have a cherry picker? I have a fair floor jack, but we need a hefty cart. It is at least a hundred yards from the car to the gate. I do not have sockets big enough for the sub frame bolts.

Cool,

I've got the tools covered and some hand carts but I think they will fork it for cheap. I need the subframe also, so if I can get everything cheap, we can buy the whole thing and separate it out here in Dooleyville (north Phoenix). I have a big truck and a forklift also to make separation easier. Can you meet me down there on Saturday morning at about 8 AM?

Tom,

How much am I looking at for shipping? That would be the biggest factor for me at this point.

Thanks,

Tom, let me know if you need a hand. I'd need directions to this place, I'm not sure where it is.
