My stereo only plays sound when the car is off. When running, the sub/box has sound, but no sound from the speakers. Turn the car off, and voila! Sound! I did this 5 times, and every time- when the car is off, tunes. Car on, subthumping, no tunes.

I'll check the harness or something tomorrow. Wierd!

My first quick thought is the ground to the 4channel amp is loose or has taken a hike. Go find it make sure he is pined where he needs to be

I looked at that, wierd thing is that the amp/sub works fine- I can hear the mono tunes from the Fosgate- it's the regular door and tray speakers that won't work. Didn't do it for two dys, and tonight it did it again. I had to turn off/on the radio like 6 times to get it to kick on randomly.

???

have you replaced any of the stock speakers? if it is a problem that appears from time to time, i bet its a loose connection/bare speakerwire. when the wire come into contact with its partner (the opposite), you will get no sound...your stereo has a protection cicuit...it just wont send a signal through untill it gets reset, and the problem is cleared.

so check connections.

You can also make sure that the "remote on" isn't reversed somehow, though I've only seen that once. Made the amp "turn on" when you turned the car off.

Head Unit

I think it has something to do with the head unit. The speakers have been replaced, but when they do not work, none of them work, it's not one or two of them. I am not using the 4-channel amp, it is bypassed, and I have run fresh wires from the deck to the speakers to bypass the old, crusty factory wires. I'm going to try to replace the head unit today.

Thanks!

Ressurection!

Well, I replaced the head unit, and it still does it. No sound, but plays rumbling noise from sub. I have one speaker using the factory wiring, (right front door) but all factory amps are bypassed. The rest of the speakers have new wire running to them directly from the head unit.

It's just weird- It won't work, 4 times, (off/on/off/on... etc) then the 5th time it plays fine!

WTH?!?
