Ok, it's not the plug. And not the wire. What is it?

Ok, I thought it was the plug. I put in a new Motorcraft plug, didn't do anything. I put in one of the old wires, with the new plug, still nothing. I'm getting spark at the coil pack, and at the plug. Only thing I can think of is the #4 cylinder has no compression. I have a comp. tester at work. Only other thing I would guess, is no fuel. Is it possible that the #4 injector isn't pulsing? Let the headaches begin......... shrug

Black, I don't think so, light brown, gray that is good. Black means no fuel, no fire.

Definite loss of power. Funny idle too. Sort of sounds like a WRX on crack. Not much of a loss of power, but it definitely lost a step. Weird thing is, I picked up my boy last night from work at 6. We chilled till 9, then I brought him home, as soon as I started the car, it was there. Think I could pull some codes, with no light? I have a Snap-On scanner.

My 2 cents. My 92 was running very bad, no power, missing, bad fuel milage, could not get out of it's own way, etc. All the sparks plugs were black and the ignition wires are originals. All of this is due to oil in the wells. I cleaned the wells installed some spare Bosch plugs that I had removed many years ago from my 89 Sho, and installed some old (but still working) ignition wires. The engine is running like a real SHO now. I will be changing the oil seals and valve covers soon. I suggest you try changing all the ignition wires if you have some spares. I hope this helps, Mike

I think I just have to pull the injector. My plugs have spark. I'll just pull the manifold and check my injector this weekend.

Have you had off the crossover tube lately? I took mine off one day, put it back on, and it was only running on 5 cylinders. I took it back off and cleaned all the connections where the bolts go with a wire brush. Put it back on, and it's been fine ever since. I don't know if it was a grounding problem or what? Cheap and free. Look into that.

I haven't had it off recently(like 6 months), but I'll check it tomorrow. Which cylinder wasn't firing for you?

Well if you want to know if you're getting power to your injector, there is a special tool you can buy at Autozone and other stores that you plug in to your injector connector. It's like the Noid light they make for the IAC valves but I don't know the size or part number. Just unplug the wiring to any injector, plug in the light, and if it lights up with the car running, your injector is getting power. Now whether or not it's spraying fuel, you would have to take it out to determine that. Hope I helped.

I don't know what cylinder wasn't firing, but it wasn't running on all 6. Something easy to check. If that doesn't work. Find the faulty cylinder, and switch the injector from that cylinder to another one. Throw it back together and see if the problem then lies with the new cylinder. If so, you have found your faulty injector.
