your rod bearings are in the process of taking a shit. If you don't want to put a new engine in, or get another SHO, I would advise not driving it immediately until you can get the rod bearings checked out. Tow your car somewhere if you have to; do not drive it.
It's also possible that your oil pressure sender took a shit. This is not a big deal, but either way don't drive it until you can get a new sender in it. Once it's in (and the oil changed, of course), start it up; if the light is still on, **** it immediately and refer to above.

where is the sender located and what does it look like i have two other whole motors i can possibly take one from also do you know anywhere there is a post of pictures or how to do the rod bearings

could a wobbly crank pulley cause this because the one on there is all beat up, broken lip, bolt stuck in it from the previous owner trying to get it off???

I doubt a wobbly crank pulley would be causing your oil light, but I would look for a replacement crank pulley asap. As for the light you should replace the oil pressure switch before doing the rod bearings.

read my sounds post cause i think i do need to do the bearings but tomorro i am gonna swap the switch.... but i mean would a wobbly pulley wear on your bearings????

it could cause funky pressures to be put on the front main bearing, but it should have no effect on the rod bearings. main bearing failures on these motors is pretty much unheard of.

Just replace the oil pressure sending unit; about 5 mintes and $15, and you should be good to go. This is the primary symptom of when the sender is going bad, so don't get all paranoid about people saying not to drive it due to spun rod bearings. You didnt say anytning about hearing any rod knock in the motor, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Can't tell if that's a rod knock sound or not on laptop speakers; replace the switch and see if the light goes out; if it does not, you need to park it until it's repaired.

When you change your oil look for evidence of bearing failure in your oil? You should see a lot of material in the bottom of your oil if it is the bearings?

An oil pan seal kit is pretty cheap... you have a new exhaust.. it should come apart pretty easily. Might take you an hour or two, but you would know for certian. Or get ready to swap a motor.
The way it flickers down low, and is solid at idle is pretty standard for RB's failing. I might drive another 5,000 miles, or maybe another 2... hard to say.. only way to be certian is pull the pan and see.

Before my RBs failed I would have said the same about the sensor, but its def worth it to check those out, my light did the same thing and not long after my engine started knocking. Spun bearing. Crank ruined Lesson learned tho...

hey can someone explain the plastic gauge process???

you take a piece of plasti gauge and put it between the rod and bearing, torque to spec, remove rod cap and bottom bearing and then measure the amount of squish. That will give you your clearance.

if your oil pressure sending unit ***** up, then u just have an erroneous(sp)light on your dash
which one do you want to gamble with?
replacing rod bearings IS NOT HARD AT ALL!
and in perspective, its MUCH easier then changing engines
be blessed you have a car where the engine oil pan is removed so easily..........
