Sometimes the light will stay on when I turn the car on, sometimes it will go out after the 5 sec power up?? I checked the oil level, it is above the hatch marks.... would too much oil make the light go on and off???

If it's the red light don't drive the car again before you change the rod bearings. If it is the orange 'check oil' light, you need to accurately check the oil and add as required.

When the oil is above the hatched marks, is the car level? Has it sat for awhile after shut down? Did you wipe off the dipstick and then stick it back in to get an accurate reading?

Well, then it is probably a faulty sensor, or a bad connection at the sensor. It is just one wire that pushes into the sensor. Maybe try unplugging it and cleaning the sensor and the wire.

Now if you lug the motor, the red oil light on the far left side of the cluster will come on. That's typically when someone lets out on the clutch too much and doesn't give it enough gas, almost causing the car to die. I had that happen a couple times when I first got my MTX and was getting used to the feel of it.
