Oh Oh another problem- blower?

I have this terrible "grinding" noise coming from the blower fan now. I think its the blower fan.
Its very disturbing!!
What is it? The whole motor vibrates. Its worse when I swtich the automatic climate control to Defrost.

Please help....winter is on the way.

It might just be a bad blower wheel. I've had to replace mine. Open it up and take a peek. That's an easy part of the system to fix.

it could be your AC clutch going bad. Turn on the MAX AC and have a look at your clutch. I had the same problem.

Can I get one from any Taurus model?......the junkyard here has lots of older Tuaruas.

The a/c clutch is a good call. The clutch is on the ac compressor. Put on the a/c or defrost and see if you can hear it out on the passenger front side of the motor. It's the accessory below the alternator. If that's the problem you will need good directions and have to remove the wheel liner to access that area.

Yes....I put the A/C and Defrost on ....loud vibrate / grinding noise....I did that and it makes the whole engine shake.
It must be this clutch thing.
I know I can replace it. but whats the next move here?
Can I get one from junkyard? Does it have to be from an SHO? Or any old Taurus will do?
How do i remove the wheel liner?

Ouch. Not sure that's it but probably. You need to check out shotimes.com to look for archived procedures. There's alot of write ups there. If it is the a/c clutch I would not recommend a used one. A new one from Autozone is probably in the $80 range. I haven't done this yet, so try the search function for previous posts.

The wheel liner is just plastic clips and a screw or two. Loosen the lugs, jack the passenger side up (jackstands) remove the wheel. Remove the plastic clips by pulling the middle of the clips with pliers (careful so you can reuse them) unscrew 1 or 2 screws and remove from the fender lip. That allows access to the front of the engine.

I wonder if I shoud replace the compressor?
Now its making a huge sound....
Anyone know what a bad compressor sounds like or feels like?

it probably isn't your compressor.

But word to the wise, do it now. I didn't take care of mine and it only caused more problems in the end.

Like hack saws, dremmels and other cutting tools in my engine bay. just to get a damn clutch off.

Changing the compressor isn't a hard thing to do, but it can be time consumming and sucks because you litteraly let dollars of freon escape from your car...
