odd fuel sutuation/smell

ok. this is the problem. when i turn my key to the "on" position and the fuel pump primes, it makes an odd gargalling sound some times. more often lately i've also noticed a gas smell comeing from the engine bay. the gargaling sound remains even after the car is running sometimes. i may have to pull the pump again and check it out, but want to sudjestions first. i just installed a walbro 190lph fuel pump a couple of weeks ago.

A few suggestions! Check for leaks at all connections, e.g. fuel line, fuel return line, upper and lower injector "O" rings.

Make sure your fuel return line is not blocked.

Check out the purge canister system. It vents the fuel vapors from the tank. If all the lines are original you may have a cracked vacuum line emitting fuel vapors. rangerj
