So after replacing my steering rack last weekend, every time I start the car there is an odd chemical smell for the first few minutes and then it goes away. This didn't happen right before the install, but I can't figure out what we could have touched that would cause a weird smell in the cabin. The cabin air filter was replaced not long before my rack went out, and my car sat in the garage for those few months (minus the times I drove it around to keep the battery alive) so shouldn't have degraded that quickly. Doesn't smell like exhaust, but is a weird chemical smell that I can't quite place.

AC lines shouldn't have been affected by loosening the subframe and taking the the rack out, there are some lines that are bolted to the subframe by the driver wheel but we unbolted those at one point so they weren't being strained (maybe not early enough so we could have made a very small cut?). Would those be the trans or ptu cooler lines? Because I can't think of what else they would be given they are on the trans side of things and have had no luck while googling.

What could have started this issue? Getting quite annoying to smell this every time. (don't say drive around with windows down for a bit, that doesn't change it)
