Okay, forget the Tw££cer for a second...

Would it be possible to convert our cars (gen2 for me) into an OBDII compliant without too much work?

I have an OBDII Bluetooth diagnostic adapter I use to connect to my laptop to get stuff like codes, throttle position, MPH, RPM, etc.

Is there any way without dropping $550 on the Tw££cer RT?

It's possible, but you're either going to pay in cost or time (rewiring) changing everything over. You might as well go with a stand-alone.

The TwEECer is really a CHEAP solution to tune with data logging. However, if you're just looking for codes and such, use a paper clip or buy a scanner.

What he said.
It would cost you a lot of money just to change everything over. You would most likely have to update every sensor (and possibly add a few). You would need to get an OBD-2 MAF for example.

I can only imagine it being a lot of work, not so much worth the time or effort to do a conversion when the Tweecer works so well as it is.

Usually in situations like this you would take existing wiring from an updated model (Much like converting carb'd Fox's to EFI) and convert it to work with SHO's, but I don't think there is any other Ford that can be used as a donor.

On that note: I've heard of a few late 95's that exist with OBD-2 wiring and updated sensors. Don't know if they are still around.

MAF's are one of the easy swaps, you just change the connector. I run and OBD2 MAF on my car already :)

Whats the company that makes standalone harnesses to put EFI into older cars???

Painless or something like that??? Don't remember. Was going to use them when I wanted to put an EFI 302 into one of my old Comets...

You'll be hard pressed to find anything to work out of the box and the extra money, work and initial cost would far exceed $550.

I was referring to EFI conversions on Fox body Mustangs. My friend just did a conversion by ripping out the EFI components from a newer model and putting it into his older body.

Reason being is it takes sooo damn long to read codes, and I am an impatient bastard when it comes to getting information FROM my car.. I have a wireless OBDII scanner that I interface with my laptop and it's great and fast... even supports newer CAN protocols.

I don;t mind ripping apart the entire car myself down to just the body (both interrior and exterrior) to do this.. And wiring and such I would do myself and take my time to get it right.. I was just wondering if it were possible and what I could use as an ECU...since I am not sure of the programming for the SHO's ECU would work on an OBDII ECU (even if it were totally reflashed into a compatible chipset) and still be able to control the secondaries, pressure switches, etc..

This is alot of work, I know, and I know I wouldn't have to add any more O2's because I ran across a programmer for my 96 regular taurus that would let me "delete" the last two O2's without harming anything else...

Hmmm... If you put all that work into keeping the car maintained, you shouldn't have to pull codes but every 10 years (if at all). I haven't done codes in at least 5 years and the only reason I did in the first place is because SHO Shop sent me the wrong cams.

You'd most likely be running into more issues trying to get OBD-II to work with the SHO engine. You would have to tune the engine yourself, even then, there are so many variables to consider, you'd probably be creating your own codes that you'd need to check later on.

Like YamahaSHO said, if your car is maintained, you don't need to check codes. That is far easier to do than converting to OBD-II. But if it really makes your life easier in the long run, then I'm not going to tell you not to do it...**** if anyone does it, it could only benefit anyone who would want to do the same thing later on.

Speaking of the "fast codes", has anyone ever run across a PC-based interface and software that can display them?

The electronic interface would be easy, but I've not run across anyone who has done it before.

As for the OBDII, I was thinking on taking what's prgrammed in the current ECU and getting it to run on OBDII chips.. catch my drift? So I keep the same fuel tables, etc..

I know it's a long shot, but my idea was (for programming sake) copying everything, not necessarily the ROM itself, but the programming specific for different modes and making it work on a newer ECU..
