Just finished changing my 285000 mile engine for a "new" 60000 mile model.
The engine I installed came from a rollover wreck. I bought it about 4years ago and it has sat in my garage until the changeover last month.
I have sparks and fuel pressure at the schrader, but it will not fire. I am suspecting gummed up injectors after sitting for so long, but am very open to any other suggestions. Thanks in advance

All I got when I pulled the codes was 1 1, which I belive means the system is OK. Is there any way of testing injector operation without the need of special equipment??????

Hey man I had the same problem as you after trying to use 3.2 injectors that I got out of a wrecked 47k mile 3.2 motor. I got spark and fuel at the schrader valve, but wouldn't fire up. Found out that 5 out of the 6 fuel injectors weren't functioning at all. Swapped my old 3.0 injectors back in and it fired right up. So I'd take your intake manifold off and test your injectors to see if they're spraying.

I cut the wires of one injector connector from a harness that I didn't need. I then spliced speaker wire to the injector connector and attached the connector to the fuel injector. I then turn the key to the ON position, grounded out the fuel pump via the EEC test connector, and fed power and ground to the injector connector via the speaker wire. You can watch the injectors spray fuel into the intake ports of the heads if the injectors are working properly.

Thanks for the info, I am off work tomorrow, so will give that a try and let you know how it goes. I feel quite confident that the problem is in the injectors,as I dont see any signs of fuel in the cylinders, and initially I was getting that rotten gas smell from the fuel out of the schrader valve on top of the rail. Thanks

Hey no problem. And if you find that you have non functional injectors and somehow get them to work (ie: soaking them in fuel, or some sort of cleaner) please let me know! I'd like to get my 3.2 injectors to spray and put them back in eventually.

But I think there's something electronically wrong with my 3.2 injectors. I don't even hear them click when you give them power like the others do, let alone spray fuel. So if you don't hear any clicking when giving the injectors power and ground then you know the injector is bad. If you hear it clicking on and off then look to see if it's spraying fuel once you turn the key ON and ground out your fuel pump. Just make sure you give power to the RED wire of each injector connector, and ground to whatever color the other wire is. There is one red wire for power on each connector, but every connector has a different color ground wire coming from it. Let us know how it goes!

Up and running again. I followed the tips given by 92ShoOff and now have a 285000 mile car with a "new" 60000 mile engine. Good for another 15years!!!
After removing the injectors and hooking them up as suggested, I found that 4of the 6 did nothing. I soaked them in carb cleaner and still nothing.
I then inadvertantly dropped one on the floor (fortunatly I have old carpeting around my bench) When I hooked this one up to my electrical supply, it clicked. The remainder were lightly tapped on a piece of wood and soon they worked as well. I reinstalled them, then tested as per 92ShoOff, replaced the rest of the top end once I could see they were working under pressure, and after abit of priming, it fired right up.
I was told to try starter fluid before I removed the injectors. Dont do this, I did, (only a short squirt) and had a small fire, fortunatly no damage to the car, and nothing that a shower could'nt fix for me.

Haha yeah DEFINITELY do not do that. I learned from an unfortunate mistake on my brand new 3.3 that wouldn't start. I blew the oil pan RTV, the o-ring between the oil cooler/warmer and block, and possibly my valve stem seals and/or piston rings. I keep puffing gray smoke when I start it up, and the valve stem seals and piston rings were all brand spanking new. We'll have to see what happens as the engine breaks in... hopefully the problem goes away. But NO STARTING FLUID as anyone else that knows what they're talking about will tell you. Glad you were able to get it running though, and I'm gonna do as you did and see if I can't get my 3.2 injectors to work again.
