Right, gotcha...

I ended up using the aftermarket stereo wire, it comes straight from the battery of the car. Turned the car on and I hooked it up to the inside wire nothing, outside wire, heard humming which I presume is my fuel pump and not the entire car short circuiting.

So now I believe the fuel pump is working, and I put a new CCRM in...can I by-pass the switch by connecting the 2 ends together? I did it and it didn't work, just trying to eliminate more things.

Yes you can but that is a very important safety feature. Once you bypass the switch and determine that the switch is not the problem, hook it back up. We'd hate to hear about the firery death of a young man.

The fuel pumps will only run for a second or two when the key is turned to "ON".

That homemade relay setup in your other post is more than likely to power on the cooling fans. The previous owner was pobably having problems with the fans not coming on due to a bad fan relay in the CCRM. You can check to see what that relay powers by tracing out the thicker wires running to it. My guess, the fans.

Hmm...I belive the humming was constant...

If I had the 12v source hooked up to the wire that goes to the CCRM.....bad thing?

From the switch? No. You'd just have 12v against 12v; therefor no movement of current at all. There has to be a difference between the two for current to move.

You can't **** something that is already dead - it sounds like your CCRM bit the dust. I would try and find the correct replacement for your model year and remove the ghetto relay the previous owner installed / rewire it the way it came from the factory.

Also, make sure that the smaller 12ga wires coming off of the (+) and (-) terminals of the battery are present and hooked up (there should be 2 wires coming off of each terminal, one small, one large) - if they are not hooked up correctly the fuel pump will not work.

IF you really need to drive this car for a week or 2 while waiting for the CCRM, you can do the following (if you **** your battery or burn in an accident because of this mod I am not responsible)..... I did this once when my CCRM crapped itself at the track and I had no way of getting home - it does work.

Get an inline fuse holder, a toggle switch and about 14ft of 10ga wire. Wire as follows:

Battery(+) -> 10 or 15amp fuse -> toggle switch -> far side of cutoff switch in trunk.

I ran the wire inside of the cabin through the firewall and mounted the toggle switch w/ duct-tape on the far side of the shifter, then ran the remaining wire through the back seat into the trunk to the cutoff switch. Turn toggle switch on, turn key, car starts. Turn toggle switch off, turn ignition off quickly.

:woo-hoo:Thanks for this tip! My (+) plug was stuffed away with the headlight harness and I didn't have it hooked up after installing my new engine. The fuel pump was not priming in the key "on" position. Plugged it in, turned the key on and the fuel pump came alive.

When I turned the key to start my SHO sang for the first time in just over 3 years!

Bannonjr - After reading your post in another section about having CEL when the car turns on / not being able to read the codes, I really recommend checking the smaller (+) wire coming off the battery that I mentioned before - it also powers the computer. Sounds like the wire might be corroded at the battery or the connector came unplugged.

One last thought - is it possible that the CEL is simply burnt out? Did the CEL ever illuminate for a few seconds when you turned the car on? I'm pretty sure you can put one wire of a test light directly to the diagnostic (EEC TEST) lead on the diagnostic connector under the hood and put the other one to a ground (battery (-) or chassis) and it will blink the codes to the test light when the car is turned on.....

So an update...

Not sure where to go from here...

I directly put power to the fuel pump by connecting a 12v to the fuel pump wire on the inertia switch...the pump turns on...and stays on...it still won't start but I imagine a flooded the beans out of it...there is fuel now at the rail when I put power to the pump directly...lotsa pressure...spurted out strong from the test nozzle.

Where can I go from here?

-Replaced CCRM
-Fuel Pump turns on and stays on
-Will not fire

You guys have been a great help so far!

You're going to have to check for fuel PRESSURE at the test valve on the fuel rail while the fuel pump is running. If you get less than 30 psi, either the fuel pressure regulator ( the little round thingy on the fuel rail that has the vacuum hose on it ) is bad or the pump is weak.

Do that and let us know.

I don't have a fuel pressure tester here, but did press on the pin, fuel squirted out strong...there is plenty of fuel at the rail, enough for it to fire at least I would think..

But it needs to be 30 psi, not the 22 psi your squirt was. Get a gauge and test it and let us know and we'll go from there.

I doubt its fuel related. I would check the big two.... CPS, and drum roll......... DIS!

Does your CEL ever come on? Can you try and verify that your computer is getting power as explained before (test light at hookup under hood).

Don't worry about flooding the motor while the pump is running - the injectors only open when you are cranking the motor. I left my fuel pump running for 30min accidently while washing my car when I was running this 'mod'

No...the check engine light never comes on anymore...which leads me to the ....DIS?

I have a fuel pump for it...I'm going to change it tomorrow...won't hurt to change it, probably close to being due anyway, and if that doesn't work...on to the next.

Or sell it.
