A buddy of mine who also has a SHO is in a bit of a pickle. I can get more of the specifics from him, but essentially, he's far up north ice fishing in MN, and just got hit with a P00C6, Fuel Pressure Too Low, and a Cylinder 3 misfire, straight to limp mode. I believe he has a 2013 non-pp, non tuned SHO, with roughly 140k miles. He's in a bit of a tough spot as he doesn't have a ton of amenities near him to make the parts cannon process easy. nor a fast internet connection. He had one courier heading up today (not me, as my SHO is back in the transmission shop ), so naturally given his year I told him to replace the Fuel Pump Driver Module behind his rear seats.
Unfortunately, that didn't work. I'm looking for further advice on how to help him diagnose, or maybe at least limp the car closer home. LTFT floating around 10-12.5% at idle. So far my advice has been:
- See if the HPFP is making weird noises when turning the key and priming, then it's likely to be the HPFP
- Check if the exhausts are excessively smokey and fuel smelling, as I think that would indicate a stuck open injector.
- Being as he only has a bosch obd2 reader, I'm not sure if diagnostics would be available on actual vs commanded pressures, but see if there's any funniness there.
- maybe fuel rail pressure sensor? maybe?
- hail mary some injector cleaner?
Would love to know any other troubleshooting or related advice you guys may have, he's had a shockingly reliable stock 2013 SHO for a while now, and this is his first dance with the wallet demon we all know, and it seems it's happening in the worst of places. I have a feeling a 3 hour tow would be extremely expensive and I'd like to save him that if possible.
