So, I load my Stage 2 tune into my car the other night getting ready for my 300 mile roundtrip day! On the road early in the morning and came upon a section of the interstate where the lane was about to end. Nobody would let me over…1/2 mile to end of lane…1/4 mile…1/8 of mile…so I punched it. Hello Barney Fife! Hiding right under the bridge where the before mentioned lane ends is the local speed trap. This local revenue agent wrote me up and I was again on my way.
Lessons learned:
1. The Livernois tune is awesome. Around town and when you get your foot into it. It is what Ford should have done. Thanks to the attorneys for cutting the balls off this powertrain too early.
2. Every little Shi#$ little town and Highway Patrol is trying to balance their budget with speeding tickets! Let’s face it; most of us drive very well maintained cars with great skill and understanding of the motorway. Speed traps have no impact on lousy drivers that don’t signal and drive like idiots.
3. To “fix” my ticket is going to cost nearly $1,000 with attorney fees and my “reduced “fine. HELLO! We aren’t stupid! You need revenue and you are taking it out of the driving public’s hide just like the oil companies. And the lawyers are part of the scam as well. The prosecuting attorney for my ticket won’t meet with individuals, only lawyers to reduce your penalty
4. Since I live in Ohio and there is a Highway Patrol officer about every ten feet, have them drive me around and I can catch up on my sleep and make good time with the lights on!
Aren’t you guys tired of taking care of our rides and driving with a respect for others while being construed as “criminal” because we may give it “the beans” one and awhile!

2 over is chicken-$hit. There's no winning though, I've discussed that with many cops. Half agree it is chicken-$hit and don't do it. But the other half are "well I drive the speed limit who are you to go even one mile over" and you are boned if that's who pulls you over.

I agree that's pretty lame, although we have a small town close to me that has very heavy traffic during Penn State home football games. Years ago they had a real problem with people speeding on what is really the only road in town (also the main highway). They hired a police chief who made policy that any violation of speed limit in the town received a citation. Now it's been at least ten years and I am aware that some people received citations for 1 mph over, but now it is known throughout Pennsylvania, that you do not break speed limits in that town...now everyone, slows to the limit or below when going through that town (less the 3/4 of a mile long). Yes, a lot of people feel they were unfairly treated, but the that PD accomplished their goal of reducing speed in their jurisdiction. So maybe some people feel slighted, but long term goal was to reduce limit and increase safety on the highway. Mission accomplished and btw, it was done before any pedestrian was injured or any child was hit by a motor vehicle.

First of all, I'm trying to make the point (not very well) that the increased enforcement isn't about safety. It is about cash. Only going to get worse as the economy sputters along. By the way, I'm the proud new owner of a Passport 9500ix detector. Should get it next week.

Welcome to the arms race!

LOL, we don't have any cops here like that -- Not even the traffic division (who will ticket anyone) would bother with that.

.......and whoever said "well I drive the speed limit........." probably is stretching the truth a little bit don't you think.

---I'm sure we're all experienced enough drivers to know how easy it is to exceed the limit accidently.

Gimme a break.

f'n rediculous.

When I lived in Dayton, I had a driving while suspended ticket. The only attorney that would "promise" to fix it with no points, and wiped clean off my record was $2000 cash. It's a game.. either you have cash and get out of "minor" trouble, or you sit in jail, await your hearing, and get out of most things with $150 fine, and a few days behind bars. Or pay and it never happened.

And I been to court plenty growing up between about oooo 16-28 ish... lol Watched it plenty of times in small towns. They go as far as to max out people on 30 day sentences just to get them sentenced by the state, and held in local jails to get the extra $$ from the state, then turn around and charge YOU for your food and "rent"...

Best thing is to not get caught... second thing is to not do it.. lol

Ya ya.. I know the order is backwards for most of you.. :p

Agreed order is backwards, best not to do it. Believe me you have no idea how many times I've heard it's the cops fault from inmates, serving jail sentences for driving while suspended. And you don't go to jail for 1st offense, but yet people still won't take responsiblity for disobeying the law, in their minds it is the officer who caught them being the one at fault. :braincramp:

Bet you're wrong, every time I've gotten stopped I have been offered to look at the speed on the radar, never once looked or argued, I knew I was over the limit and really wasn't even upset about getting caught. Didn't like paying the fine, but was never upset with the officer who caught me.

$1,000 for a speeding ticket? I got one about a month ago and my attorney only charged me $300 and she get's it off my record with no points. I hate driving through Ohio. You have to remove the radar detector and and watch your speed.

just so i'm clear...you broke the law, you got caught breaking the law, and you're complaining about getting caught breaking the law...sounds like someone's tryin to give you the shaft, fella.

Incorrect. The officer did not, obviously, watch him for the required amount of distance. For, if he did according to what the OP claims, he wouldn't have seen the OP speeding AND THEN verified it with the radar/laser gun or he would've seen the OP not speeding until it was a necessary safety issue.

To the OP, it does not take a high-priced lawyer. I've fought a similar case, by myself, and won in MA.

The NHTSA has a specific protocol with speed enforcement and in this case was not followed. What happened to the OP, again according to his story, was a money grab...
