Pay attention Beefcake! your car needs this too!

So as I have said since Dearborn in Feb, the grill needs to be painted! Something!!! I cant stand chrome....

A few weeks ago I started to take the grill out and found that Ford pretty much screwed us for easy disassembly. You have to remove the entire bumper cover to get to the grille, so I put it back together then and said when I had time.

Today I was making tunes all day and figured since its not freezing out I would attempt ripping it down again. You have do the following to get the grill out.

1. remove tires
2. remove radiator support sheild
3. remove splash sheilds (about 30 screws) and 2 8mm bolts
4. remove 2 push pins (1 on either side) top tip of cover
5. pry the cover out of these retarted clips(need to be hulk)
The whole cover is off!

Now to get the grille out, you need to undo 50 little snap locks, and un bolt the emblem (2 10mm nuts) and the grille comes apart in 3 sections. This part sucked! you feel like your breaking it on every clip.

1 more thing, you have to remove the front bumper to get the headlights out. I happend to also need a Marker light bulb replaced, so I removed the lights as well. 3 bolts, two are easy but the third (per light) is behind the bumper cover, and to get to it you have to remove the cover entirely..

one pic drivers side shows the one bolt holding on the bumper cover holder and the headlight bolt.

Interesting, so do you plan on painting the grille with tinted black clearcoat or what?

I'm also surprised you need a new turn signal bulb already. You shouldn't have any go out for a long time IMO.

im undecided on which way to paint it, if I had a black car it would be very simple!

But being red makes if more difficult.

I think what would look good is paint the silver parts a gunmetal gray and spray some transparent black, like what you use to tint head/taillamps, on the chrome parts. It would go well with the red.

Or...you could try and replace the entire grill with a black chrome or dark polished look billet fine mesh grill. Since you already have the grill out, mine as well experiment with other grills all together and see if anything else looks better.

Maybe when I get another grill. But im not cutting up this one yet. After seeing how its constructed, it is a support peice of the whole nose.

It's a long shot, but has been mentioned. Are you going to try GT500 Brembos? I'd be interested to see if they would fit.

Is there any way to reduce the size of that Ford emblem. It is at least 5X too big. I'm all for brand recognition, but that is a little silly. I know it is the blue oval, but does it always have to be blue? Red would look a little nicer on that red car. If it just has to be blue, make it smaller - way smaller.
