I've searched my specific car's VIN number and found that it was involved in a minor front end collision, as I've mentioned before in prior posts.
My car was in Iona Michigan at a Copart auction lot. Mileage recorded then was 116xxx. Front left fender, bumper cover, grille, hood, and headlight were all that was damaged and replaced but NOT correctly paint blended to the doors or the rest of the car for that matter....
The cost to repair it at that time was $7k and my car then was valued at $12k due to being a minor hit and no airbags blown *knock on wood* otherwise the cost of repairs would have been higher AND most likely would be a total write off.
Was bought for $3k (not by me) I'm assuming the person I bought it from had bought it to save it and drive it.
This would also explain why 1. My horn wasn't working or bolted up, and 2. The headlight issue i have with whatever replacement the shop did... whatever shop it was i don't know but goes to show that prior accidents & repairs might not be immediately apparent, but for anyone looking at a used car from a private seller or a dealer lot CHECK everything and stand back and look over the paint especially if it's a metallic paint job amd watch for mismatched color or shades. Ask questions about the cars maintenance history, accidents etc etc. Now I'm not posting this to say "hey this car was in a wreck I don't like it" no. I simply did some research and voilà found out it has some history.
I was sort of suspicious of it when I was looking it over and my dad mentioned the bumper and fender were a shade darker. Odd, but I wasn't too bothered but I could always go and get it fully repainted correctly. Not a single issue as it's been 3 weeks since I've bought it and it's been absolutely amazing to drive!
Attached below are the photos of the damage, I can't remember off hand if I had posted those already or if I did, my apologies for that lol.
