I need an idler pulley bearing for my 95atx. I've searched all over and cannot find one for my car. I read that the bearing off of an idler pulley for the 99 SHO will work but I can't even find that. I know That FPN used to sell them but I searched there and cant find one either. Anyone have any suggestions or any advice. Many Thanks.

I tried the Gen III pulley, but I had no luck even getting a pulley that was remotely close. I ended up buying pulleys from FPN. You have to use the parts request feature.

Just recently, someone claimed that they found some bearings that will work. Look in this section of the forum.

What is the bearing number and name of the manufacturer? The "number" is usually a combination of letters and numbers. Unless the bearing is "proprietary" it should be available at auto parts stores.

Proprietary means that the bearing was designed and made for a specific buyer, say for example Ford or Yamaha, and not available to anyone else. If it a common "off the shelf" bearing, then it will be available as a separate part.

You can also try bearing distributors like Bearings Inc., or Bearings Corporation of America (BCA).

If the bearing is proprietary then you will have to get a new idler pulley with the bearing. rangerj

If it's just an idler and not the tensioner you can use any idler pulley that is the same dimensions in the places that count; backset, diameter of pulley, diameter of bolt hole etc etc. I'm assuming you're talking about the serpentine accessory belt and not the timing belt.

From an old email....

Talk to Bob
Houma Bearing Services, Inc.
1-985-876-7899

They only work off the dimensions and construction type of the bearing. So don't bother to ask for a bearing for a Ford Taurus SHO.
