My heating after core install!

Well I want to thank everyone who help me with my heater change...it wasn't fun but it's done. Well I like to know is what reads outside temp? Why when I'm just idling it doesn't read correctly but only when I start moving is when it reads what it should. And also sometimes it seems like my heater doesn't get as hot like it should, now let me tell you as I was taking the black box out, the one the heater core sits in, I broke the the bottom a/c line as I was taking it out I don't know what effect that would have on my heater. But after a while it'll get hot but someone please school me! pcorn

You did get all of the air out of the system right? Whats the temp gauge doing? How old is your T-Stat? Also your temp sensor for the outside temp I think its in front of the rad. So when you are sitting still the heat from the rad is going to affect it.

No I didn't what do you mean? Well I don't have a/c so I didn't have to worry about freon but I don't know what you mean about letting the air out but t stat is over a year old.

He's talking about air pockets in the antifreeze. Pockets of air trapped in the lines can cause a loss of heat until it all gets out. If there is air in the system you might noticed the temp gauge moving back and forth and not sitting still in one position.

No, the broken A/C line will have no effect on your heat at all. It will have an effect on the defrosting though, as it helps draw moisture out of the air, which in turns helps keep condensation from forming on your windshield. And, being in Texas, I suspect you'll be mighty incomfortable come summer.
