First off this is my 8" Lilliput touch screen and modified bezel epoxyed into place (this is not a finished product and I know you can see the epoxy lol)

IMG00226

second have my laptop that I picked up off Kijiji for like 200 bucks, its a dell inspiron 9200 with a 17" monitor blah blah blah... its a fast computer but way oversized but the deal I got on it I couldn’t get anywhere near the performance of this one for 200 bucks.

Third or soon to be third, I will have my tweecer r/t and will be able to tune and control my engine and display all my stats…

It’s pretty cool. Don’t mind the temp wiring and duct taped head unit as that is temp as well until I buy my new amp for the audio. The laptop is temp until I have more funds this summer to put in a real car computer and have a nice install.

Could you use a Windows CE machine for this? I'd hate to have to wait for XP to load before I start my car.

+1 for innovation

-4 for installation

the last place you should be looking while driving is down there.

WTF... who says im watching it?

1. the GPS navigation software i have i dosent even need a screen (like 90% of the ones out there) it talks me through everything.
2. I can assure you that i wont be watching a DVD while im driving.
3. As for tuning I dont think i would be able to read the text on the spreadsheet anyways so thats out of the picture.

long story short think of it as a big head unit.

www.mp3car.com There are other sites too... I been playing with that idea for a while... while your at it... see if you can't figure out a way to use an external antenna. I thought about doing that, so when you were at home in the garage, you could download the tunes / movies. you wanted before you roll out. ;)

Maybe download a map or two to put into your favorites... :)

i could debate this more with you. but i wont.

IMHO too much work for too little payoff.

in dash dvd with jump drive and nav would have looked cleaner and done everything this will.

(and is "made" for the climate and abuse of being in a car daily)

too much work? i spent about 3 hours on it total... too little payoff? its a fricking computer in a car... i will also have internet wherever i go thanks to my rogers internet stick (USB Internet reciver) and for hotspots i have my dlink wirless N extreme pci card.
Like i said in my OP, it is not finished and most of the install is temp, just wanted to make sure it would all work.
as for being "Made" for the climate and abuse... its operating temp is -20 (C) to i think 50 or 60. this screen is made for being installed in a car.

Funny sig from a guy on Mp3car goes somthing like this "If my typing sucks its probably because im driving" lol

wtf? the computer works fine in the car? maybe im missing your point. its very practical when you have a tweecer rt and dont want to have a laptop on your lap all the time when your tuning.
also very practical with the GPS
and the internet but who knows... the internet is just a fad and is "as cute and practical as a pet elephant"... :nut:

with the Tweecer RT you drive, datalog, stop review make adjustments drive again.

driving and tuning is as dumb as texting while driving

GPS can be had on many in dash dvd's

and the internet in your car? seriously... unplug for a while.
