So I took my 93 down to the track this weekend. I had a horrible time getting this thing to launch without spinning the tires. It felt as if I would spin the tires through the 60' mark. I am running nice rubber, 225-50-16 Fuzion ZRi's. I did keep them at the proper 32psi, I know I should have dropped out some pressure. I had wheel hop a few times too.

This is my best run of 4. The others were very close. Any insight on helping the launch would be great. And ignore my bad RT ;)

R/T ... .843
60' ... 2.354
330 ... 6.533
1/8 ... 9.912
MPH@1/8 72.12
1000 ... 12.82
1/4 ... 15.238
MPH ... 93.73

I thought I did well. It was my first time with this car. For being mostly stock aside from the mods in my sig. It was about 50 outside and there was no sun. Does a cold track make it harder to launch from. I would spin a little to heat the tires before the race, but for the most part, I tried to avoid the water.

Edit: I was trying to launch at 1400 or so, letting the clutch out slowly.

Hmmm. What are you revving it up to before you launch? I was able to get a 2.21 out of worn out all-seasons. You just have to find the sweet spot where you still spin, but they don't completely let loose.

Thanks for the help, but your posts make my head hurt.

I did not have my spare in the car. I had the RPM's around 1500 during the launch. I think the tires are just not good for the track.

lmao Pull your radio? I doubt the 2-3 lbs will really be worth it

You matched my MPH so the speed is there for 14s....Just takes practice. I was in the 15.0 range until I figured out the launch....YOu want them to squeal but not spin

The radio, speakers & cables add up to around 30lbs.

Maybe the whole system yes but not just the radio....and this is a street car anyway so why would you even consider that mod? I doubt there are too many full blown darg race SHOs that would truely benefit from removing every last ounce of weight

10lbs reduction of weight in this car = 1 horsepower. 30lbs =3hp. I would never pick a sho for drag racing purposes because its all about traction and if you lessen the weight you lessen the traction unless you have a quaife. Performance is still very limited compare to other cars. How about rear wheel drive for starters?
