So last night I was driving it had over temp warning and then like 2 seconds later check engine light came on. Shut car off for like 20 minutes drove home didn’t over heat. Scanned it and the camshaft sensor had an open. Unplugged it and plugged it back in and it went away and hasn’t come back. Coolant is in between the max and min when cold so coolant level is not changing. The AC blows cold and the heater works on full blast and keeps the engine temp a little lower.

P0020 is typically the front VVT solenoid on the front valve cover under the noisemaker pipe. check the wiring going into the sensor, typically when I see this it's due to a frayed or cut wire.

Well shoot. Knowing this part of the story, you probably just have a circuit fault somewhere where multiple circuits are affected/chafed.

Yikes sorry to hear that. But just for future reference an IR thermometer is far and away the least accurate and least reliable means of measuring temperature, and is beyond useless if being pointed at unpainted metal surfaces.
