My car has around 65K miles on it, bought it a year and a half ago with 32K on it so I am fairly certain the struts were original. Replaced them last week and my dragy times dropped by a tenth compared to similar days with similar DA's. Sure enough, went to the track and not only had a new PB in 80 degree temps, but I had 6 different runs with 1.7xx 60 foot times. I have had 1.7xx 60 foot times before, but it was the exception rather than the norm. Most nights I was lucky to get 1 of them, with most of them being mid to low 1.8's.
So anyone looking to cut their 60' times and get a little faster 1/4 mile time, rather than going with the lowering springs right off the bat you might want to try putting new struts on first. I'm still not lowered, my best that night was a 1.755, but I also had 1.781, 1.784, 1.780, 1.763, 1.776 and a 1.763. My worst of the night was a 1.835, and there were a lot of nights this summer where that would have been my best.
