I've read all I can on this and it still is not clear to me whether or not running the 80mm MK VIII MAF with a LPM tune is worthwhile.

What is the verdict? Speculation is scattered and varies so much so that I am hesitant to even bother installing this MAF that it just sitting on my shelf. I have an LPM sitting around as well and am considering having SHOsource tune it for me (with the MAF profile) but I am not confident on whether or not that will help or hurt me.

I will be running Tri-Flow cams, BBBs, PnP runners, UDPs, a Magnaflow catted y and a Borla catback when it comes time for me to decide for or against the MAF.

I am aware that I will more than likely not max out the stock 55mm MAF in N/A form but it is a massive cork in the intake and with my target of running the engine up into the high 7k rpm range this seems like even more so of an issue.

It should be noted that I plan on running a QH down the road and that I may not even bother with the LPM, but I've been back and forth a couple times about this MAF issue so I figured I'd post another useless thread about the issue at hand.

I say yes as a band-aid TILL you get it tuned. the Mark Style of MAF is a better design and is more accurate in metering the amount of air, which makes a big deal when tuning.

I say do it. But many people on here will say otherwise.

I have all the mods you have on your wish list, except cams and went back to stock 55 MAF after 2 tries for LPM mail order tuning with the 80 mm. THe 80 might be a better unit, but must be tuned properly to work, and I don't have the time or interest in doing Tweecer tuning.

LPM tune works for some, and not for others. There are probably canned tweecer tunes that will work and you adjust from there. Just not worth the cost and time to me for being NA.

The 80mm MAF in my track car has been tuned for quite a bit. From my understanding, when UDP's and the 80mm MAF went in, the current owner spent quite a bit of time getting it just right. Can't wait to get it back. =)
