Mean offsets

The wheels im looking at for my sho are 16x8's and +42

I know im going to roll the fenders to make them fit but can anyone else think of problems it might cause?

and also has anyone put on wheels of a similar offset or width?

You may have an issue clearing the strut, more so in the rear. If you dont mind having spacers you should be fine. 42 is a little deep.

I think it'll hit the strut actually, especially with a wider tire. My 38mm offset wheels with 245/40/18s are very close to the strut, and was rubbing the fender pretty bad. I rolled the fenders as much as I could and now it's ok, but it's very, very tight.

yeah smaller the number the closer it is to the strut. the stock slicers are 42mm but I would have to say you're goign to have fitment issues with those wheels

It's the other way around. The smaller the number the further out the wheel is away from the strut.

Offset is the distance the mounting surface from the centre of the wheel. So the larger the number, the further out the mounting surface with the hub is from the centre of the wheel (the "face"/front side of the wheel), thus pushing the entire wheel in torwards the car.

The 35mm offset wheel will work just like a 42mm offset with a 7mm spacer, but your lugnuts will hav less threads to hold onto.

Get a 38mm or less wheel, but you probably don't want to go any lower than 35mm on a 8" wide wheel. Lots of fender rolling will be in order.

I had 17x8 Mille Miglia wheels (38mm offset, I think) & 235/45/17 tires... on my 89 they rubbed on the quarter panel so I had to roll them. But they were fine on my 92 & 94 so you might be ok. The wheel only had about a 1/8" - 1/4" to go to hit the rear strut though so you might end up needing some spacers.

gen 2's can fit wider tires easier then the gen 1's could, for what reason i dunno but they do

FWIW, I had 18x8" rims with 38-40mm offset on my '89. Tires were 235/40/ZR18.

They were a little close to the rear strut, but I had no rubbing. Only needed to roll/trim one quarter panel lip too. Car was stock height.

Grab one of those wheels and check. The offset is stamped onto the backside of the wheel. The Miglias I have here have a 42mm offset.

judging by the offset Binghetto probably has some aftermarket Volvo race wheels. Remember, the Rota slips were never made in our bolt pattern.

You will need +35 to +38 offset if you are running an 8" wide rim.

If you want 16x8 with +42, you might have to use spacers.

If you can wait, I will have several sets of 16x8 +35 Rota slipstreams (17 lbs) for the SHO available for purchase in November/December.
