I just got my hands on my tuned LPM. I tuned it to use my 80mm Lincoln MAF but besides that the car is stock. It seemed to run fine at first but then it would start to forget where to idle and stall out. It would also stall when I had the wheel turned. After that I’ve been thinking about selling those two to someone who could actually probably use them. Do I bother trying to sort it out by sending it back to SHOsource or just sell them? I have a ‘94 with an X2J if that means anything. The only other tunes I wanted were the cooling fans and secondaries coming on a little sooner

The 80mm MAF is a useless mod if you don't already have the other supporting mods that would benefit from it. Without a high flow Y pipe, ported intake, BBBs, ported TB, bigger injectors, etc, etc.... You have no need for that MAF. The stock TB is only 65mm so take that into consideration.

I have a built to the moon NA SHO and a boosted beast SHO. My NA SHO has a 73mm MAF with 36lb injectors and my boosted 95 has a 3"(76mm) MAF with ID1050 injectors.

What I'm getting at is even with everything you can throw on these cars you really don't need the 80mm. Your car will run better with the stock MAF on it. I would get the LPM tuned for other things though. Those can be pretty useful.

I would just pull the lpm and put the oem maf back on.
After 5 minutes of wallowing in shame that’s exactly what I did

I appreciate the input, it was honestly just an impulse buy because I thought it was hard to find them. But man a built SHO sounds so fun

I did the same thing about 15 years ago. Keep a look out for the 73mm MAFs. I believe they were made by C&L as well as a few other companies. You can find them made out of metal or plastic. These 73mm ones don't require a tune. Plug and play.

The best bang for your buck just starting out is going to be a high flow Y pipe. That should always be the very first mod. Really let's the engine breathe.

This is a dangerous impulse that will seperate you from lots of money for not alot of performance in return. Unless you really change the characteristics of the engine it is hard to get satisfaction from bolt ons. Minus brakes. Those can get you immediate improvement.

Enjoy it for what is was/is. It does not hold up to modern vehicle performance with similar or less displacement.
