Lopey idle......... dies

It only happens occasionally but it is happening more often recently. My car will kind of lope while idling, it will jump from about 300rpms to about 1000 and will want to die, and sometimes it does. It also takes quite a while to start if that helps..... anyone got any ideas?? I would like to take care of this problem asap, because I was going around a corner at about 10mph, had the car in neutral while slowing down, and with my foot on the clutch getting ready to put it in gear it died and the steering went out, luckily there wasnt a car there or else I would have smashed into him. sounds like the idol air bypass (IAB) valve to me, its on the intake near the throttle body. Try replacing that or switching it with ha known working one to see if it fixes your problem

check for vacuum leaks...
