3/4 of the time after I turn off my car and then later pull out of the parking spot there is a puddle of coolant on the ground. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the back side of the engine. It doesnt leak when the engine is running and doesnt always leak even after I turn the engine off. Any ideas?
thanks,

Paul

Back side, meaning the firewall side? That would probably be one of the heater hoses. The 5/8" diameter hoses running from the engine thermostat area to the firewall penetrations to get hot water to and from the heater coils under the dash.

There will be a green or orange trail to tip off the leak source. Why don't you pop the hood after shutting off the hot engine and watch for the leak? It will be straight up from the first drips on the ground.

Paul, check right near the firewall, and there is a heater hose with a small cap on it. Check to make sure that is screwed on tight. Mine was loose and caused me to lose coolant.

Also had this proplem.. There is a hose from the engine to firewall.. (heater??) about 6 inches long and very hard to reach..clamps on both ends, it's down a bit.

Anyway, this was my culprit. Leaked right to the exhaust. BTW I had a mechanic do it and if you not careful, you'll kink the throtle cable, (he did)and this will definately make you mad.

**question** I've got a very small leak coming from front nearest the drivers headlight. It's not much, and I looked and can't see any visible leaks. Could this be the core?? please no!

The sources that are close to the driver's headlight are the upper radiator hose and the driver side plastic end tank and tank seal. Get under there and look up for the drip trail.
