If it runs okay with zero issues, LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

Hi evidently the V11 is a harder shifting tune as compared to the V14. I'm concerned that the harder shifts might affect the drivetrain longevity on my DD compared to the softer shifting V14. I've emailed Anthony but wondered why your guys opinion is?

Been on my v15 for a few days and have several hundred miles on it. No more shifting issues. In fact, it seems to shift more smoothly than my old v11 soft shift did when you’re taking it easy, but the shudder still shows up occasionally before a full throttle 2-3 shift. You notice it passing on two lane roads and up on ramps mostly. I’m going to leave it alone for now until my SCT X4 comes in and I can log it and try to figure out exactly what’s going on. I hope the logging is sensitive enough to capture the rpm fluctuation.

A harder shift is actually easier on your transmission clutches than a soft shift. You get more positive engagement and less slippage.

They do have a soft shift v11, though. Before it got cold, the soft shift v11 worked great on mine.

This is 100% true for the clutch packs. Less slipping means less wear on the clutches...

I well caveat that with the energy has to be absorbed somewhere...

That being said.. the 6F55 transmission is a badass... with the power your putting out from basically a tune only your trans is fine.

Remember BPD1151 is running 11.5’s (before his audio extravaganza install) on the STOCK drivetrain.

Thanks guys that puts my mind at ease. I love the hard gear change . Feels great to have that bang into gear .

The practical limit for the stock drivetrain (as set by bpd's DD tune) is in the vicinity of 500 AWHP/600 AWTQ. His race tune file, used to set the 11.5 record is well north of even that, but risky to use with the stock drivetrain.

The LMS stage 1 is well below bpd DD tune so I assume this further supports the drivetrain can take the hard shifting V11

Yes. Many people have successfully been running V11, so I do not see any downside to it at this point. I will only say keep your drivetrain fluids fresh as a precautionary measure. Fords do and always have loved fresh fluid :D

This is the gospel... once tuned ALWAYS follow the severe duty maintenance.

v11 soft shift was my last LMS iteration before switching to GH, and was the best for no heart-stopping issues. There was still an occasional overev on the 2-3 exchange, but it did shift, though harshly. That was enough Russian Roulette for me.

Beside transmission concerns, there are CV joints and wheel bearings to consider. My son's Edge needed both at 160k with no forced air injection.

Similar issues with mine. Traction control off fixed it until at the track one night. Started to do it again. Broke the AWD. Rear diff unit. Haven't had the chance to try it since but it's hard to believe a tranny would pop out of gear. I feel may be PTU or rear diff causing some issues. No clue.

Good news here. Took Anthony's advice and gave it about 50-100 mi of driving after installing v11. Temp about 40-50 F . Didn't turn any controls off or use sport. No more missed 3rd hitting the rev limiter . Straight into 3rd and with the same force as 1st or 2nd . I'm debating not installing V14 now unless 11 fails .
Sweet glad everything is running smooth for you, we do always still recommend turning tc off to make sure the performance is consistent

Just saw this thread, it explains things. I didn't have any issues with the first v11 tune but since I put in the second v11 tune I've been having this exact problem. Was rather embarrassing when I let a friend drive the car and it did this, he thought he broke my car... I'll grab a newer tune and get it installed when I get home.

For those keeping count, you can add me to the list of LMS users have V11 shift issues. It is intermittent... maybe temperature related, since it shifted fine (hard) when first installed in May 2018. Then one day a few months ago it refused to shift 1-2 until I let off. I reverted back to stock, and the car shifted fine. Put the tune back in and it shifted fine again. But, I've had the same 1-2 shift problem several times since then.

After reading the various threads on this issue, I am concerned and disappointed. I went with LMS to be "safe". I really don't want to invest another $1600 for something I don't NEED. I don't track my car, and seldom find myself lined up next to a Porsche at a stop light. I just wanted the ability to get the most out of my SHO when I wanted to. After experiencing a tuned SHO I really don't want to go back to stock, but I also don't want to hurt my engine.

I am not requesting the V14/V15 tune until i see substantial evidence that this will resolve the shift problems. I will probably go back to stock until then.

The new X4 SCT tuner from Gearhead with the AutoOctane tune cost me less than $500. Reliable high 12 ET's have been reported by others here. With this tuner, I now have the ability to datalog if desired.

High 12’s is pretty good for a 4 door family car.

It's faster than my old 70 Coronet RT 440 six-pack: no adaptive cruise, no heated, cooled, massaging front seats, no air conditioning, etc., dangerous over 90mph, and, get this, 4 1/2 miles per gallon!
