LMSRick can you elaborate what you are doing with afr's your tunes? Have you done any datalogging with egts on a stock car or a tuned car?

Hello,

I am not the tuner, so I'm not 100% sure. He is currently headed to Texas for a race, but I will send him an email to see what info I can get for you. I can assure you that our stage 1-3 tunes have been tested in our shop car which is driven extremely hard and we've never had a single issue. Darreli's car is the first SHO we tuned and he has been running the stage 3 and some other "test" tunes for quite some time now, also with no issues.

I can say that our tuner (Dan Millen) has been tuning for years and will not tune anything on the edge. His tunes are safe, but do make great power. he tunes everything that come through the door from small bolt-on's to his 2,500+ HP 6-second Mustang (seen below).

Can't speak to EGTs but the a/f is factory 10-10.5 (I believe it's 10.3 but don't hold me to that) pretty fat....could probably make a little more power leaning it out but why...makes good power now.

My daily driver is a turbo Cobalt SS and with our custom tune, it makes 20 lbs. of boost and I drive it that way all winter. In extreme cold weather, it will make 22-23 lbs. I drive all of my cars extremely hard and I just make sure that it's fully warm before beating on it in the cold weather.

Tonight, it was 28 degrees and my car that normally makes 20 lbs. during the warm months was making 25 lbs. The cold air definitely makes more power :)

This tuning thing really has my attention, I take it that you guys at Livernois are putting the Stage 3 tunes into otherwise stock SHO's without encountering any problems? Or are there any changes that you recommend making to the engine? Thanks for your input in advance.

The stage 1 is trans only, there is no HP gain, but it does shift firmer. Stage 2 and 3 make the same power, however stage 2 has torque management and stage 3 does not. It will shift even firmer with no torque management, but this may shorten the life of the trans. We do have several customers who know this running this tune daily with no issues.

We run the stage 2 in our shop car most of the time and swap to the stage 3 if we go to the track.

The files are custom and developed on our in-house AWD dyno. We've been testing these files since the day we got the car and have tuned a lot of them since with no issues.

Unlike my Cobalt that makes nearly double the boost it did stock, we don't increase boost by much on the SHO. The turbos are small and create a lot of heat and in testing here and at the track, we found that increasing it slightly on the SHO has more benefit than increasing it more.

Thank you

Ok, well I can now be officially counted in as one of the lucky ones who now has the Stage 3 Livernois Tune programmed into my daily driven SHO.

I first must thank fellow forums members PhantomX and Darreli whom both provided me with the contact information for Livernois. I can't thank them enough for providing me with their own experiences using the Livernois tune(s) and assuring me that they have had no issues for several months now.

Deserving of equal thanks and praise, is Mr. Rick LeBlanc (known here on the forums as LMSRick) of Livernois Motorsports. I was incredibly impressed with Rick's consistent open form(s) of communication.

It didn't matter if I contacted Rick by email, by phone, or via PM here on the boards, Rick always, and I mean this literally, ALWAYS responded to each and quickly too!

I was thoroughly, thoroughly impressed. Now I will openly acknowledge that I have been previously running a tune from another supporting forums vendor here on this site.

That company's tune certainly did provide an improvement over the stock tune from FORD. But after reading all of the positive experiences here from people who have utilized the various stages of tuning provided by Livernois, I couldn't help but think that I was missing out on something here.

I delayed posting here because I wanted to actually try out my new Stage 3 tune first, in order to gain a 1st hand experience of my own, so I can post, or answer questions accordingly.

I programmed the car w/ Livernois's Stage 3 tune early last week. Due to a lot of family commitments and it being Halloween etc, I didn't really get to "play" as much as I wanted to with the car.....

But now that I've had a solid week and a half into it, I am must say...... the Stage 3 Tune..... HOLY SHYT! Much stronger pulling throughout the entire power band. Power seems consistent, w/o any lag, from launch to desired top speeds.

Shifting is seamlessly quick, and I couldn't help but think I gained back, if not added to, the same power I was putting out of my modified '07 Charger (in sig pic).

Now this is the same tune I've been told that Darreli is running (or at least was since he's testing the Stage 4 currently) in his SHO, and is seen in YouTube video's found directly on Livernois's website.

I'm just really impressed not only with the Stage 3 Tune, but also the entire level of professionalism that has been displayed by all the staff at Livenrois, most especially Mr. Rick LeBlanc himself.

Kudos, Kudos, and more multiple Kudos for a job well done Livernois! :thankyou: :omgsho: :dribble: :woo-hoo: :hail: :thankyou:

My credit card is getting itchy :):)

Mike,

Thank you for the very kind words! I'm glad you're happy with the tune and I appreciate your feedback!

Before having the AWD dyno, we had a pretty good tune that was developed on the street, but you are only able to do so much on the street. This dyno has been a great tool and really helped us perfect the tunes for these cars.

As far as answering all of your questions, that's what we're here for. I always make sure to get back to customers in a timely manner, because I know if I call a company and don't hear back, or hear back weeks later, I don't want to do business with them.

So has anyone done the 1/4 mile with just a stage 3 tune and no other mods
? If so what times you posting up?

We ran our car (non performance axle) with the tune only during the summer months in the heat and it went 13.1. I know Darrell was ther the same day in his car which had a CAI, Corsa, and our tune and he ran 12.9. Now that the weather is cool, I'm sure both cas will lay down a better time. Hopefully the weather stays decent, because I know Darrell is going to try to hit the track Friday with his new "experimental" tune.

Thank you,

Rick

I'll second the great customer service with Rick and Livernois. I have about 800 miles on my stage 3 and its a damn beast. Today the streets were wet after some rain and I had an M3 next to me... well not for long. The SHO hooked up like mad and shot like a darn bull leaving the gate.

Yeah, the Stage 3 is the tune I ran all summer. I have a couple new tunes (one with a little more boost and one with even a little more boost and a little more timing) I plan on putting to the test at the strip tomorrow

I think you will be happy with just the first stage tune...firms up the shifting... if you think it's too cold for you to run the stage 3 ....and when you get a warmer day pop in the stage 3 and enjoy!!!.....you'll be amazed!!!

Yeah, after speaking with Rick at Livernois and reading all of the positive feedback on the forum, I've pretty much decided to get this tune.
I may wait a little longer though because this economy has been kicking me in the wallet and Christmas is just around the corner......
Although the girlfriend has been asking me what I want for Christmas..... :dribble:

I have been running the AirRaid CAI and the Stage 3 tune for about 3 months know, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. The car feels like it should from the factory. All my questions/emails/comments have been answered by the guys at LMS very quickly

2 thumbs up for the guys there!

I am going to Livernois Monday November 15 for a dyno tune and have the airraid cai. Did you get any extra power out of the intake that you could notice?

I apologize up front if this is a complete newbie question. I have a lot of experience in ECU flashing on motorcycles (have a 356 hp and a 460 hp 1300 cc turbo charged motorcycles controlled by stock ecu's reflashed etc).

Anyhow wondering with the Livernois tune advertised, are you getting a tuning tool with a file for that price, or is it just taking your car there and being flashed? My wife drives the SHO daily, but I would like to have the ability to play with the stage 2 or 3 on the weekends when I drive the car, but go back to stock when she is driving around on 87 fuel etc.

Thanks,

Greg

Mike! Your making me look bad for not having that banner on my car! Btw, I see a spec of dirt on your hood!

I'm kidding, I actually told Rick I needed to put a windshield banner on my car too

I do have their stickers on my helmet though! and a license plate frame! :p

Greg,

We sell the tuning device with our custom tune for $499.99. It can be found here

Basically, we send the blank tuner to you. Once you receive it, you will read the strategy code from the vehicle. You will then email the code, the serial number from the device, what mods (if any) you have, and what octane gas you run.

Switching between tunes is very easy.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you

Rick LeBlanc
