LOL, if mid 15's for Impalas are slow, then so are 90% of the SHOs on this forum because that's what most run.

As for bench racing, let me just say... well... bench racing is :***: Go to the track already!

Yes, that's me in the 89. And yes, the LS1 'maro in the first run is nowhere to be seen at half track

Of course, I get spanked at the other end. Just sayin though... unless you're racing Roadmaster station wagon, pretty much anything with an LT-1 will require you to be at the top of your game. Not unbeatable, but you better not **** up.

Oh, and moving to the 1/4 mile section, because this "proposed" race WILL be run at a track.

Ninja edit--Doh, just realized the OP already ran this race. Shame on you for breaking the rules, but since I moved the thread to a forum I don't moderate, nothing I can do now except issue infractions

Bet that LS1 was really surprised.

Never in this thread have I said I already ran the race. I HAVE raced LT-1's in the past. That is all.

Sorry if I broke a rule, but lets face it, nobody's perfect.

an LT1 is still a very capable platform.

just not in a 4,000lb caprice.

the vette is (and please correct me if i am wrong) is lighter still than a f-body.

there are plenty of companies out there that make performance parts for the LT1 engine

and if that isn't good enough, i suggest a LS1 swap.

The LT-1 in the Corvette has more power.

honestly with owning both ill say in all seriousness a stock SHO cannot touch a LT1 or LS1 T/A,weather u wanna go from a dig or a roll

from a roll if the T/A aint in peak condition or the SHO has a couple things done to it it would b a different story

but were also talking about 2 comepletly different classes of cars here and agood 100+ hp difference depending on year and if its a base T/A or WS6 (WS6 usually gave 10 extra hp over the base T/A's)

from wikipedia

sounds about right but don't know how accurate

a SHO isn't touching anything with a LT-1 unless its a stock B-body type car, also as noted those engines in the sedans don't make as much power as the other LT1's, they have iron heads(don't know if any difference in castings) and different camshafts

"The 1992 LT1 in the Y-body was factory rated at 300 hp (220 kW) and 330 lb·ft (447 N·m).

96 LT1 Y-bodies were rated at 300 hp (220 kW) and 340 lb·ft (461 N·m).

The 93-95 F-bodies were rated at 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 325 lb·ft (441 N·m),

while the 96-97 cars were rated at 285 horsepower (213 kW) and 335 lb·ft (454 N·m).

The 96-97 WS6 and SS F-bodies were rated at 305 hp (227 kW).

The 94-96 B and D-body version was rated at 260 horsepower (190 kW) and 330 lb·ft (447 N·m)"

I've been beat by LS1's in my old SRT4, so I know LS1's are not something I'm going to pick on. Worked LT-1's are the same story. And like you said, two COMPLETELY different cars!

Just for the record guys, I am under NO impression that the SHO is some wonder car. I've probably forgot more about cars than most people know.

I know I've pulled on LT1's before, but I'm thinking they were sick and/or the lower rated HP years.

my buddy had a 3rd gen camaro with an LT1 swap. thought he was the coolest thing ever.

till i explained to him that "no you are not faster with your slush box and buick roadmaster engine. try again next time".

the LT1s in the 4th gen F bodies were quick. thanks for the wiki post on the engine breakdown.

A SHO will not beat an LT1/LS1/LT4! Unless they don't know how to drive or you throw a cup of chew spit in their eyes. BUT you ARE in a car that doesn't squeak rattle bang clatter and completely wreak of poor quality and design. But thats what we can expect from GM in the 90's when tupperware was designing their interiors. Lol I owned a f body, a VERY clean one at that, and I know just how great those cars are. Or not so great.
