And we're just saying what if.

What if I raced a 1997 Trans Am LT-1 with a CAI and automatic from a 40mph roll and he put a car on me by 100mph?

Would that be normal? Or, would a Trams Am like this possibly have a Corvette LT-1 swap being that it has 135K miles on it?

Just saying, what if that happened? Normal outcome?

I'm pretty sure that if something like that happened, people would say you lost and then the thread would get locked.

Let's just say, in the past I've raced LT-1's and pulled on them from a roll.

I would assume that if I did, they must not have been properly maintained like this one would be.

Uh, what??

A stock SS Impala isnt much faster off the line than a V6 SHO with a few mods. What are they rated at, 0-60 in 6 flat or so?

Hardly what I would call "a beast"

Plus, once you hit second gear it is all over, and all SHO.

thats what i was sayin pretty much. i used to be a real die hard impala fan because my first car was a 96 impala. but it got rear ended so after i repaired it i keep it garaged because it has 100,032 miles. its a collectible here soon or allready is. but my sho has always been my mistress lol

Impala's are slow stock, a SHO will take it. Most I see at dragstrips run mid 15's, I can even beat that with my SHO and horrible launches. My brother's SS with an intake I think was running high 15's/16's with a worn rear diff and constant wheel spin.

that being said, my brothers SS, heavier then stock, would run in the 13's in the 100's with I/H/E 3:73's/Eaton LSD and trans mods, its top end was MUCH faster then a SHO.... it was just faster all around. The LT1 takes very good to bolt ons compared to a SHO

LT1 F bodies/corvettes are MUCH faster, I'd say from a 40 roll if an automatic only put a car on you, you were VERY lucky..... I"d say that car wasn't running its true potential, look around on youtube or streetfire and there is a video of a SHO running a LT1, and I believe it is a fast SHO for what it is, that has many videos and is no slouch compared to other things.

also later year LT1's had more hp, different cam and computer I believe. A 96 makes more power then a 95....

Back in Michigan ... again.
LOL, if mid 15's for Impalas are slow, then so are 90% of the SHOs on this forum because that's what most run.

As for bench racing, let me just say... well... bench racing is :***: Go to the track already!

Yes, that's me in the 89. And yes, the LS1 'maro in the first run is nowhere to be seen at half track

Of course, I get spanked at the other end. Just sayin though... unless you're racing Roadmaster station wagon, pretty much anything with an LT-1 will require you to be at the top of your game. Not unbeatable, but you better not **** up.

Oh, and moving to the 1/4 mile section, because this "proposed" race WILL be run at a track.

Ninja edit--Doh, just realized the OP already ran this race. Shame on you for breaking the rules, but since I moved the thread to a forum I don't moderate, nothing I can do now except issue infractions
