I don't mean to get personal. Just thought that I explained my question/situation the right way in the OP and it turned to S..t about every thing else. No harm tho.

That's, uh, most threads in SHOForum. Threads are lucky to stay on topic for 10 posts. It's just the way it is around here. SHOForum is not like most other forums, and I mean that in a good way. I haven't so much as touched a SHO in 6 months, and I still come here every day.

Very used to that. I just sold my last Lincoln (96 MarkVIII LSC) and have come to SHOforum from LVC. LVC is a 'not like other forum' site too, and especially ******* the newbies too.

All is good as far as I am concerned; afterall I get to drive a free SHO daily.:omgsho:

Too bad you don't own it.

Why is that?
Free Car.
Free Insurance.
Free Maintenance.
Free Gas.
New car ~ every 80,000 miles/36 months.
Now that doesn't sound too bad. I never want to own another car again; except for maybe a F150 to tow any future boat/waverunner if I can ever afford one and move to a house on a lake.

That is just it. I never heard anybody complain about a car they didn't own. I could see if you bought it and then found out it doesn't do the things you want. That is like me complaining about my neighbors truck that he let me borrow.

I wasn't complaining about the car. The car is awesome. I was expressing my dissapointment in the fact that it takes 50 hours to copy music; it shouldn't take that long.
Then others basically telling me I don't understand 'how the system is designed' and that 'that is not how the system is designed so stop complaining'. Well that is my beef, the system could have been designed better.:braincramp:
AND FYI, I don't think anyone buys a car for the entertainment system inside it.

When SYNC debuted on the '08 Focus, sales soared even though that model Focus wasn't really that great. The take rate on the SYNC option was also something like 85% IIRC. It's sad to think people will buy a car based on one aspect of it, but it's true. I've seen people buy a car just because they liked the color and it looked "pretty" :nut:.

And FYI, I also complain about everything.

I complain about the AUTODESK software at work all the time, but I don't own it.

I complain about others hinting I don't have the right to do something.

I complain about lack of common sense, respect, morals, etc. I also don't own any of those things.:munch:

Anyone else?

Touchee. and that is true, but they were leaning towards a car of that style in the first place and that system put it over the top. If the Focus wasn't such a nice car it probably wouldn't have mattered too much. IMHO.

Almost any ford now comes with the system.
I wanted navigation in my car, but I didn't try and get a SHO because it came w navigation. I wanted it for the reasons you guys already know.

It's a well accepted fact here in the Navy that a sailor isn't happy unless he/she is complaining about something.

Right, that's what they buy cel-phones for. But someone may buy a car that allows the driver to text from the entertainment system. :(

so where is the sync unit located in our car then?

Im going to assume it has another usb port on it, like the others do.

Then it would be easy to hook up an external hard drive (no larger than 200gb) and save whatever music you want to on it, and still have the console usb for charging a phone, etc...

a couple notes from the mustang forum:
sync will handle no more than 10,000 songs (this will allow it to index properly, otherwise it will not allow itself to index individual song titles, only artists and album info)
200gb seems to be about the limit for sync to index without confusing itself.

so there you go boys, use the console usb or the extra one on the sync unit, use whatever thumb drive or external USB powered hard drive you want to, as long as its under 200gb or so.

problem solved.

Um, Context.
10gb of hard drive space is somewhere over 3000 songs.
3000 songs at 1 minute per recording is 3000 minutes.
3000 minutes divided by 60 minute is 50 hours.
50 hours to load music into the system is a disapointment.
There I spelled it out for you again.

Is anybody else disapointed in that FACT or do you just want to gang up on me for some reason?

I agree with you 100%. I don't particularly care if it's Ford's fault, the RIAA's fault, or George Bush's fault - the bottom line is that the Jukebox fails spectacularly at it's intended purpose.

Everyone who posted alternate means of listening to music via alternate USB ports or whatever is completely missing the point. The point is that the Jukebox is so incredibly difficult and time consuming to load music onto that it might as well be a paperweight. Until someone tells me how to load music onto the HD in a reasonable manner (via the USB port, for example), everything else is just smoke and mirrors.

The reason people are suggesting alternate methods is because ******** about Jukebox accomplishes nothing. If it doesn't work how you'd like, do something about it.

If you absolutely refuse to use any sort of workaround, feel free to write strongly worded letters to Ford. If enough people do, something will change. Might I suggest not spelling Jukebox "Jokebox" at every opportunity though, it makes you come off as whiny and childish.

If you don't want to write Ford either, and you're only interested in having someone listen to you complain, don't expect to make many friends. Most people have better things to do than listen to you complain about features on your free car.
