3 angle valve cut, complete degreasing, reassembling, and adjusting valve clearances, then reassembling again.

$250 for the pair
$70 to pressure test em
$35 if they need resurfaced

if it wasnt leaking before, I dont think it would leak on a new block would it? Should I have em checked?

Might as well have them surfaced. $35 is nothing for peace of mind.

And it will dial up your compression ratio ever so slightly.

I would be careful with the surfacing of the heads. You may change the geometry of the valve train.

I think ive read on here that the valves shouldnt be shimmed till they are on the engine. Something about torquing the heads down can throw everything off.

- Resurfacing the heads will permanently change the valve timing. And not in a good way, either. I wouldn't do it.
- The valve lash cannot be accurately adjusted with the heads off the car and not properly torqued down.

Just an FYI. :thumb:

Awesome.. yea i was kinda wondering about that... resurfacing would change the distance the timing belt would travel, and also pull the 2 pulleys a little closer together... even how small an amout it would be. I almost think I should just pull my heads off as is, put them on the new block, get it running / broke in, then mess with adjusting the clearances. Heads werent bad before i spun the bottom end, so I'm assuming they should be ok for a while. Got all my gaskets today from RCM.. so imma go outside here tommorow and get me some engine building goin on. :) still have 1/2 an intake to clean / paint yet....
