About 25 years ago, I was at the auto parts store when a couple of guys in a 67 Mustang pulled in. They admired my car and asked if I wanted to join them at the local Autocross. From that time until I moved away I participated in my club's monthy events and quite frankly was some of the most fun I've had.

Now that I live in Indiana I ask: Any clubs/events around may parts?

There should be. The SCCA puts on autox (Solo) events all over. They usually have local chapters that can be found online pretty easily. I have run autox with both the Ft Wayne Region and the South Bend Region. I know there is also an Indy Region. Alot of events are held at Grissom Aeroplex in Peru. Maybe I will see you at one.

Indy region and FWR are the two larger regions in the state, actually there is a dentist from lafayette who drives to the indy region events in his ctsv.....lol

great lakes division, if you scroll on that page, it will give you the websites of each region local to you. Hope that helps, and hopefully I'll make it to one this year to see you. :nut:

Why not bring the Saturn out. There were 2 guys in the corner that I was working who were driving them. They were kinda bewildered how my 17 yr old taurus was beating them, especially since with all their mods they had substantially more power. I just told them I get lucky some times.

Or just bring the bimmer as is...as long as it passes tech. Had a guys show up in Yaris's and rental cars. For me its about the fun and improving, not about winning.

the last event for the redline was the halloween at FWR in 2010, the star specs are trashed(cords showing), and it no longer has hawk pads.....:(

If I could sell the thing, the ti would get finished.....200-250rwhp in a 1900lb car sounds sketchy....:naughty:

Thats great! You planning on bringing the Taurus? I would love to see it. AWD, but a heavy car to throw around.

Yea, first 'suitable' ride I've had to autocross with. Back in the day it was a 69 Cougar convertible, so I'm used to throwing big heavy metal around. I was classed a BSP back then and it looks like they've changed the classes a bit. It looks like the Taurus is G-stock.

BTW - what do they do today regarding upgraded PCM programming? Do they connect something to the data port during tech inspection to insure that you're really 'stock'?

Was it the one at IPFW. I think I was there with the SHO and talked to you about it. Interesting.

I know the old Taurus's were G Stock, I have no idea about the new ones. As far as tech, they don't plug anything in. It is just to make sure the car isn't dangerous. As far as I know the tech people don't care about the Class ect.

They don't really care about the class locally, heck, they looked over my car closely at that last event I did, something about a crazy silver one with MI plates. It was an smf car running g-stock.....

Locally, they're more about fun than being in the precise class for mods. If you were to go to regionals or a national tour event, that would be a bit different than locally. I will bet the sho is still in Gstock, mainly due to size and weight. Around here, that class is dominated by gti's and minis, it most likely wont do well, but the fun is in trying and enjoying thrashing the car
